I hope you are well during these unprecedented times,

Firstly, I’d like to ask you which type of Geography interests you the most? It could influence which degree course you would like to pursue. There are typically three types of geography courses (excluding joint honours) including Physical Geography, Human Geography and Geography.

I can speak for the courses offered at the University of Huddersfield. BSc(Hons) Physical Geography- how the physical environment influences contemporary society. BSc(Hons) Human Geography- how social structures and inequalities impact society and the role of geopolitics in our contemporary world. BSc(Hons) Geography- where you have the chance to study a range of subjects and to specialise in the final year.

The latest entry requirements are BCC with at least a C in an accepted science subject- including A Level Geography. Do you have a particular field of interest in Geography? Please let me know, and I could give you some specific details on that course.

In my opinion one of my favourite aspects studying Geography BSc(Hons) at the University of Huddersfield is the small cohort size, there are currently 19 students on my course. The course capacity for 2021 entry is 25 and even though this is subject to change, it will still likely be relatively small. From my experience, it allows you to know all of your lectures more personally. However, the university environment enables you to retain a level of independence and professionalism.
Also, I cannot discuss Geography without highlighting the field trips. Thanks to Huddersfield’s locality you are only an hour away from places like Liverpool and the Peak District. As well as local sites of interest such as Leeds and Brighouse. Under normal circumstances, in your 1st year, you would receive module related field trips, and this could be a written report or presentation. Once again, under ordinary circumstances, in Year 2, we would go abroad to develop our geographical skills and put the feedback we received in Year 1 into practice as well as visiting other local areas such as Hebden Bridge.

no i don't have a particular field of interest, i think the geography degree would be best. i checked the Huddersfield website out, thanks for the advice
