Haircut

Hi so I am a black guy who has afro hair that hurts to comb so I don't comb my hair very often.
When my dad cuts my hair it can often hurt because there is little matted knots in my hair.
I am planning on going to the barbers soon, will this annoy the barber?
Should I comb out my hair and bare the pain before I arrive?

just go to the barbers they shld be able to sort it out for you, i wldnt worry too much im pretty sure they have many costumers like you who have knotted hair

If the barber is annoyed by your hair type, he isn’t a good barber.
Are you going to a standard barber or one that specialises in Afro hair? I think getting advice from a professional that knows how to deal with your hair type would be useful for you.

Yeah I've seen them do black hair and white hair on their Instagram so they do both.
I don't condition my hair and I use dirt cheap shampoo so my hair isn't in the best quality.
Do you think they will mind?

I always make sure I was and brush my hair thoroughly before a trip to the hairdressers to be polite, but I’m sure they’ll understand if it is causing you pain to do so :smile:

And like for up keep purposes deep wash your hair once a week with shampoo and conditioner (doesn't have to be the best quality). To prevent matting after the barber has fixed it keep it moist and moisturised throughout the week this can be done by combining conditioner and water in a spry bottle. Finger comb your hair to help out the curles and spread the conditioned water

This advice I'm giving works for me as I'm a black women with natural hair and this is how I keep up with my hair and prevent it from matting.

My mum buys the Tresemme Moisture Rich Conditioner (about £5.00 from boots currently but you maybe able to find it cheaper at other retailers). I'm not big on certain brands I just use whatever my mum buys lol.

Homes you can just any random conditioner, whatever works for you and your hair is always gonna be best for you.

I really don't know how people with long natural hair get a comb through it tbh lol
