Some Mexican and Spanish words are the same. Why are Mexican and Spanish language so similar? Shouldn't their words be different?

They are the same language (minus a few regional differences I'd imagine), as Mexico was formerly a Spanish colony.
Mexicans don't have their own language. They all speak Spanish.
