Hi all - does anyone know if it's true that graduates are not eligible to apply for the A100 course? And for A101 applications, is only the GAMSAT accepted? Am worried that the A101 is much more competitive than the A100 and of course the GAMSAT being much harder than the UCAT (doesn't help I did a non-science undergraduate degree!). Thanks!

"As of 2021 entry, we’re excited to be accepting graduate applicants onto the 5-year Medicine MBBS programme. Previously, this programme has only accepted applicants who have not completed a degree, and all graduate applicants were encouraged to apply for the 4-year graduate entry programme. However, we recognise that there has been an increasing number of people wanting to pursue medicine after having completed an undergraduate degree, and some graduates would prefer to take an extra year of study towards their medical degree.

We require the same academic standards for both programmes — 2:1 in an undergraduate degree or 2:2 with a Masters or PhD. The aptitude tests are different for each programme:

5-year programme: UCAT
4-year programme: GAMSAT. "

I emailed the admissions team and they said no. They just look at your degree classification (2:1 and above) and UCAT. No need to satisty their A-level requirements nor is there any lowered A-level requirements to meet for graduates like some other unis! :smile:

Here is the email response:

"Thank you for your enquiry.

For the undergraduate programme, graduates are only expected the meet the 2.1 hons or above requirements and achieving the minimum UCAT score (A Levels and GCSEs will not be considered)."

For those who got into st Georges medical school or got an offer what UCAT scores did you get and A-level grades did you get/were predicted?
I would love to go there but the requirements on websites seem to vary.

I study chemistry and biology a - level and also a cambridge technical if I obtain an A in chemistry/biology B in chemistry/biology and Distinction in my Ctec course will I still be applicable to study medicine in st George's?

Hi @StarLinyx

It's not any harder than any other Medical school, obviously every medical school looks for something slightly different. I don't know any official figures, but from the inside, George's is a really happy environment and I don't know anybody who's disappointed that they went there or hasn't enjoyed their uni experience. We have a very different environment to the other medical schools in London, as we're the only specialist healthcare university - so all our students share a passion for healthcare, and also we're the only university situated inside a hospital, meaning our students get more patient contact than other universities as they're literally on the same site, and also get fantastic teaching from many active clinicians as again, they're on the same site.

Hi, i’m thinking of applying here for 2021 entry. Someone correct me if i’m wrong but they rank applicants for interview of their ucat score? so for example if i meet academic requirements and get a ucat score above the calculated cut off score i will be invited for an interview?
Secondly, does anyone know how many places they offer for UK entry?

So you will be invited for an interview if you meet all the minimum academic requirements e.g. A level results and UKCAT score. After that your offer is based on interview performance!

Hi! So I finished my UCAT two days back, and it didn't go that well. I was clearly quite unhappy with my score as I was performing way better during practice, but still want to know if I stand a chance at St. George's?...I scored 582.5 B1 :frown:

Hi @vk0109

Sorry to hear you aren't happy with your results. Unfortunately the UCAT cut off changes every year, so nobody can tell you if you definitely have a chance. The best thing to do is to look at cutoffs for previous years to judge how likely it is that you'll meet it.

Hi, in mid September the ucat average scores for 2020 would be out, would St George’s use this and make a new cut off score or would they use last years average? Unfortunately I scored 2320 in my ucat and I wanted to see if I would still have a chance to apply this year :smile:

Of course they'd use this year's (i.e. the 2020 test takers) statistics.

After all, it's this years' competition, last year's is for reference / information only.
