Allen Court or Ranmoor/Endcliffe?

I just received an offer for Allen Court and would appreciate anyone sharing their experiences of this residence. I read a lot of comments online about moldy bathrooms which is a big NO for me as I am allergic to mold. My first choice was ranmoor/endcliffe but sadly got located at allen. Should i be worried about Allen Court? And how is it any different to the other option?

I’m not sure about what you’ve seen online but I would actually say that allen court is a lot cleaner than ranmoor/endcliffe. All rooms have been refurbished in 2018/19 so the rooms are very modern. Hope this helps a bit.

Hi @Zilean,

As Anonymous #1 has mentioned already, many rooms at Allen Court have recently been refurbished to a high finish and standard. However, even if your room/flat in particular has not been, I can reassure you all our accommodation is cleaned thoroughly over the summer period ready for new residents.

The majority of students have positive experiences in university accommodation, and friends I knew that lived in Allen Court didn't find any major issues. Endcliffe and Ranmoor are both in walking distance from campus, or you can get the 120 bus at a reduced fare when you show your student card - so you can easily socialise with friends living elsewhere.

I'd also say that the maintenance team are really helpful, and will happily sort any issues that arise throughout the year (sometimes even the same day!). Should you move in and find any issues with your room, please do get in contact with the accommodation office and we'll do our best to resolve them ASAP.

If you have any other questions about living in Allen Court do let me know!

An official rep on the accommodation online chat service told me that "the whole of allen court has been renovated within tha last couple of years."

Hi there!

I have lived in Allen Court for the past 2 years, first year in Latimore House (E block), and second year in Brightmore House (A block), so I have experience with both blocks. I absolutely loved Allen Court and definitely never had an issue with mouldy bathrooms - just keep your spaces clean and mould won't build up! The facilities are amazing - launderette, common room, cinema room, games room, table tennis, pool, karaoke, amazon lockers, etc. and the reception staff are lovely and the maintenance team fix things fairly quickly as well!

Latimore house was newly refurbished in 2018 and Brightmore house in 2019 so everything is lovely and new. The beds are 3/4 sized.

Please let me know if you have any other questions and I'd be more than happy to help!

Hello, I appreciate you sharing this info. I will be in Brighmore House (B block) so i guess that makes us neighbors?
Btw, what exactly are the amazon lockers for? Also, will the reception staff be able to receive parcels on your behalf in case you are out?

Hi!
So if you order anything off amazon then it will go in the lockers and when its been delivered, an email will be sent to you with a code which you type in on the locker screen and the locker door will pop open. Any parcels that are too big for the lockers/non-amazon parcels will be left with the reception staff and a slip will be posted in your flat's letterbox which you take to reception along with a form of ID between 3pm-8pm and you can collect it from there
