Do Imperial take GCSE into account much in the selection process? i.e. would having a number of grade 9s give me any advantage at all in the selection process?

They do not use GCSEs

No. You’ll need a grade 6 in Maths and 6 in Eng Lang or IELTS; beyond that they don’t care.

Hi guys I hope you’re well.
I’m aware that the minimum grades required to apply for medicine at imperial is AAA but their standard offer is A*AA with the A* in bio/chem.
Does this mean that one can apply with predicted grades A*AA (with A*in maths and As in bio and chem), and they would still be accepted if they achieve A*A*A at a-level (with one of the A*s in bio/chem)?
Thank you!
Can I please ask the amazing and wonderful @GANFYD for their valuable advice or anyone that has more info on imperial? Thank you!

Imperial’s website does seem to indicate that you can apply with AAA predicted and not be immediately rejected, so your A levels may be OK. They’ve refused to tell us via FOI how many applicants with AAA predicted get interviews and offers citing that it would take too long to collate the data, but they did say that practically all AAA offers are made to WP applicants (https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/proportion_of_a100_offers_with_p#incoming-1610466) Obviously if you applied and got an offer of A*AA with A* in Bio/Chem, you’d need to meet or exceed that.

Personally I would say that it’s risky and I would suggest emailing them to ask as well as you don’t want to waste a choice. Similarly even if you did get an offer it would be risky as most people underperform rather than over perform relative to their predicteds and it would be a lot of pressure. Could you get one of your predicteds upgraded?

TLDR email them and ask to be sure, and have a backup school in mind would be my advice.
can I apply to imperial with AAA predictions and then get an A*AA offer or do my predictions have to be A*AA to even apply.
thanks

Does anyone know what the weighting is for an application? Eg 40% bmat, 60% a levels or something

It's all BMAT, as long as you meet minimum requirements
I have 2A*'s and 7 A's and I did O levels not GCSE'S but they are both equivalent to each other. I am going to be applying this year and my A level predictions are A*, A, A.... if I manage to meet the minimum cutoffs for the BMAT, then do you think I could be accepted?
Anyone know about how dissections will be ? I don't know if they have changed with the new curriculum and can't find anything about it on the website

Imperial do not look at GCSEs or A levels beyond minimum requirements

They changed dissection to prosection either this year or last, I believe
