when should i start stressing over gcse's?

i start year 9 in four days and i was wondering if i should start revising for gcse's now or later

Dont even think about them until at least the end of year 10

September Year 11 is when you start casual revision, like everyday ish and Easter Year 11 is when you go HARD revision.
No bother revising now when you won't remember is, only for mocks n stuff

(do not follow my example :biggrin:

)

Don’t stress till year 11, at Christmas get a routine sorted out then at Easter study more frequently (in yr11). Enjoy year9 it’s quite peaceful :P

Y9: do your school and homework to the best of your ability. Revise for class tests, but only a little bit.

Y10: revise for mocks, start more seriously learning vocab for languages (e.g. at least 10 words per week on Quizlet), keep working hard in class and do additional work if you find a particular lesson very difficult - just make sure that you understand everything you're taught.

Summer y10-11: research revision methods and start trying some out, keep your subjects ticking over the summer with a little bit of revision (so that September isn't so hard!)

Y11: revise for mocks as if they're the real exams, try to keep 1 day per week off for most of the year (except close to exams, potentially) but work consistently hard throughout the year otherwise.

Remember: you should try not to stress about exams - just work hard all the way through, make sure you understand lessons, and revise well as you get closer to exams. Do your real best and you'll be fine, but don't burn out or work too hard - rest and socialising are really important too!

One thing I never hear is “I revised too much”. IMO you’ve never revised enough until you get 100% in the paper.

The more you learn something, the easier it is to revise later. If you start with some light revision in year 10, you’ll be in a much better position for exams. e.g. I revised each Biology module around 10 times and by the night before my mocks I only had to flip through my notes.

You never have to “stress” over GCSEs if you revise from the beginning (my favourite resources were Seneca, Quizlet, Dr Frost maths, Freesciencelessons and past papers).

I mean each to their own but I agree with most of the other posters. Work steadily through year 9 and 10 and then going into year 11 is the time to focus No point in burning out at gcse level.

Well my school only starts the syllabus in Year 10 so only start revising once the syllabus begins and keep on top of writing weekly notes and monthly testing, which is what I do, and it’s hard work but it means that when I rewrite revision notes, it’s just like a refresh.

No no no! Far too early. I started Febuary yr11 and got all 9s and A*s. Just make good notes as you go along and you’ll be fine

For me year 9 was the best year in all the years I’ve had of school, everyone did whatever they liked and no one really cared about education until year 10 hit, that’s when you should start to look into some revision

i revised too early for gcses, I did a GYG on here where I sweated GCSE science over the y10 summer but then I lost motivation and revised less for my actual GCSEs. They went fine, but I got a higher grade in physics A-level than GCSE so clearly I didn't try as hard as I could have at GCSE. It was even clear as I was doing the papers that I could have prepared much better.

Don't jump into it too early, would disagree with some of the posts above.
