I asked my tutor if I could give two answers to a question because I wasn’t sure if a line measured 5.5 or 5.6 cm. He suggested I bought a pair of dividers. He said they were popular and students DO use them in exams. Is this true? Do you guys recommend I buy some? Is the advantage over rulers significant?

I teach Maths - I've never known anyone use a pair of dividers. If you have a good ruler there should be no need for them.
