It's got absolutely nothing to do with the number of pages, and people who try to measure grades based on the quantity of work they've done rarely get the top grades.

The only correct answer is "as many pages as it takes to concisely meet all the requirements". In other words, if you've written everything the mark scheme asks for, and been fairly concise about it (i.e. you didn't waffle too much) then you'll get a good grade. If you don't cover everything, or simply spew as many words as possible without considering the requirements, then you won't get a good grade.
