How do I find what mass of carbon dioxide is produced when 5.6g of butene is burnt?
(the equation is here) C4H8+6O2->4CO2+4H2O.... I'm having a lot of struggles with these questions! Please help! Thank you
I got the moles of butene as 0.097mol and therefore the moles of CO2 as 0.386mol. Therefore the mass of CO2 should be 44*0.386=16.99grams

thanks for that------ sorry do you mind telling me how to get there lol
To find the moles of butene it is simply the moles =mass/mr formula.
Once you find the moles of butene just multiply by 4 to get the moles of CO2 since the eqn in the question shows a 1:4 ratio of butene:CO2.
Then rearrange the moles=mass/mr eqn to find the mass of CO2 (mass=mr x moles). This should provide the answer.
