Getting a job during a pandemic

Due to being in the 'vulnerable category' due to a chronic lung condition, I've deferred university this year as I felt uncomfortable living with people who are going out to bars etc. and socialising with thousands of other students.
However, I've been inside since March and am going insane. All my friends have gone back to work or uni. The plan was to find part-time work to distract me but with rising cases, I'm not sure this is safe anymore. Not really sure what else I could do to entertain myself though - I've exhausted EVERY hobby, any advice welcome.

Online courses? If you look at coursera or edx there are a large number of courses that are available for free which you can do for interest. You can pay to get a certificate or just do the course for free without the certificate

I've looked into online courses and will probably complete a few but my main issue is that I'm craving routine! I'm also doing a design based degree so options for courses in that are seemingly limited.

Do ones just for interest- that's what I did over the pandemic versus ones which were directly related to my course.
Make a routine- it could be like for 9-12pm you do some coursework. Then go on a walk and have lunch. Then in the afternoon do a hobby or maybe learn a language

Hiya!

I would recommend completing online surveys, such as through Prolific, where you can complete a survey and be paid for it (anywhere from 5p to around £5 a survey). It seems like a small amount of money but it all adds up, plus it gives you something to do as well as a little income! I've been completing them for around a year now and have made over £150 just from randomly doing them every now and then. I've also been selling things on depop and ebay which can help make a little extra income so would definitely recommend these platforms.

I'm sure that you have done most hobbies now but some of my favourites (which i'm sure you have done!) include reading, sewing (following patterns, following guides, making masks, up-cycling clothes from charity shops) and also painting my numbers. Basically anything that is really time consuming and distracting but also rewarding!

Hope this helps! Sam- Official Student Rep
