For (a), you should give the total of values in the various included subregions.

3 & 2?
4 and 8 are the numbers of elements, so you need to calculate the total.

How do I do that? Please could you explain?

i cannot give a complete explanation... it is against the rules.

you 4 items in one section, and 8 in another... and you need to find the total of the items. see how you get on.

is there any chance you could tell me if these are incorrect? I think they are, but I'm unsure8B45DE06-31B1-4163-8BF4-D2CCEB3C4EA2.jpeg
The 32 is wrong in the venn diagram.
b) (ii) is wrong.

If you want help on why, it would be good if you could explain how you got those (incorrect) answers.

Would it be 36 instead of 32?

And Is (i) correct?

For (ii) the u sign means things in A AND B but since there is a it means not in B so what I thought was - Things in A and not in B so I took 1 and my answer for (ii) was 1 if that makes sense

36 is not correct. Again, please explain how you're getting this answer.

For (ii) X u Y is the set of things that are either in X OR Y (or both).

For 36 I did 5+9=14 50-14=36
and for (ii) There is a symbol (') next to the B which stands for 'Not In' so does that not matter in this question?

The total of the numbers in each section of the diagram have to add up to the size of the universal set (50).

For the last bit, you want the number of items that are "in A OR (not in B)".

So for A would it be 40?
and for (ii) would it be 1 and 40 so 41?
Yes.

Yes.

Do I write 40, 1 or 41?
