Dumb nurse

My family casually make sly comments like you're so dumb your doing nursing and you have to be stupid to do nursing. It makes me feel annoyed and my brother and father know it does but continue to make the comments. They don't outright say it but they slip it into conversations.

Why?

Lol, they say all that UNTIL they end up being looked after a nurse (God forbid this happens btw). I see nursing as something I am just not cut out for (I'm going into accounting). I've never heard of people saying that nursing is dumb until today.

I agree but it's hurtful that they think of nursing and me in that way.

But I've learned to eventually understand that I can't please everyone, and should just focus on making myself be happy

I agree they just don't think highly of it for some reason even though they have had experiences in hospital before and they know the role of the nurse.

What a ridiculous thing to say! they should be proud of you doing nursing. You have to be intelligent and extremely hard working. Ignore them if they are doing it to wind you up! Maybe they have some outdated ideas of what it involves. Nursing has replaced many things that doctors used to do now too!
