Veterinary Medicine Reapply 2021

Hi everyone!
I’m applying to Veterinary Medicine this year after I was unsuccessful in august due to the Covid situation.
I thought it would be nice to have a chat on here with other reapplicants and talk about our situations.
Last year I applied to Surrey, RVC, Cambridge, and Bristol. And I got an offer from Surrey.
This year I am applying to Surrey, Bristol, RVC, and Harper Keele.
I’d love to hear from anyone else in a similar situation, and good luck everyone!

Hi there! I am applying for Veterinary Medicine too this year (RVC, Bristol and Surrey) I have just finished year 13 (well kind of, I am doing the Autumn exam resits rn - last one is tomorrow! As my calculated grades weren’t high enough) so so nervous, I really want to get in but I know it’s so competitive. Btw my two other choices were Bioveterinary Sciences at RVC and Surrey. Would love to hear from you and good luck!!

Cool! I resat Spanish last week but I wanted to do chemistry over the next year to have longer so I’ll be doing that in July. I recieved An ABB for my teachers grade so wanted to try and increase the B in Spanish and have to increase the B in chemistry. I’m just working on a couple of supplementary forms and questionnaires for Bristol and Surrey at the moment and hope to hear from them soon!
Good luck to you as well!

What have you done to make yourselves stand out? I imagine getting recent work experience is much more difficult with COVID?

Yeah, I think just listing anything you have done that shows employable skills. Extra curriculars, online courses, hobbies, job etc. They just want to see the kind of person you are and that you understand and are prepared to take on the course and career 😊

Thanks!
What do you know about how the course is split between Harper Adams and Keele? How far away are they and is it primarily at one place or do different things happen on a different campus? And if they are relatively far is there transport options?
Thanks ! 😊

Hello again @Ljdf0072!
First of all, I am really sorry about the late response. I have somehow missed your question! The good news is, I managed to find answers to all of your questions! The information given on the Harper-Keele website about the course split and transport links are as follows:

Students spend full days on either campus, mostly at their 'host' site, with travel days to the other site limited to the need to access specialist facilities, typically in the region of four days a month. The final year will be mostly spent on clinical rotations, with individual days or weeks back at the host site for tutorials.
Harper Adams University and Keele University are 23 miles and 50 minutes apart by road. A shuttle bus service is provided for Vet School students allowing them to travel free of charge and safely between the two institutions in order to access timetabled classes.

I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, I am always happy to help!

Hi! Great to see a thread for this! I’m a reapplicant too! I did have an offer from Surrey but after not being able to get a grade for my biology resit as I was a private candidate, they didn’t let me in (even though they promised me I’d be in as they said it wasn’t my fault I couldn’t get a grade but oh well...) So this year I’m studying biology with an online centre so I’ll definitely be able to get a grade regardless of whether exams are cancelled or not and I’m applying to Nottingham, Liverpool and Cambridge and already have an offer from Bristol (as I got an offer last year and I put them as my insurance but they couldn’t let me in without a biology grade so they gave me a guaranteed offer for entry next year!) Can’t wait time see how things turn out this year!

Wow that’s great! I’d feel so much better if Surrey had said that to me. They said they would look at me favourably and I recieved an interview yesterday. Just gotta hope it goes well 😊

Yeah it felt good when they said that at first but they didn’t stand by what they said and rejected me anyway, so safe to say I haven’t reapplies there this year and I just hope they don’t do that to anyone else this year. Well done for getting an interview! When is it for? Are they doing their interviews online this year and in what type of format?

The interview is on 14th November. It’s on zoom. But other than that I have no other details. Just hope I get an offer from them, they were my firm last year so fingers crossed! 🤞

Ah cool! At least you’ve got a little while to prepare and have a head start anyway seeing as you’ve been through it all last year!! Good luck and hope you get it!

Don't worry about it! Glad I could help! I am here if you have any other questions.
I'm a re-applicant this year! My number one choice is Bristol, and I was put on hold last year and then rejected. I've reapplied this year to Bristol and Liverpool, as I'm restricted with where I can apply with my Access Course qualification. I'm feeling more confident this year and think my application is stronger than last year - so fingers crossed!

Any other mature students here?

I’ve had exactly the same experience, applied for Bristol last year, was put on hold then rejected. I reapplied this year and have been put on hold again! Going to be honest, I am a little worried now but know my questionnaire was so much better this year than last years and Bristol is my number one choice too. I’ll be a mature student as well 😊

Me too. Last year was put on hold and rejected in March, and I was put on hold again yesterday. It’s just so hard to predict anything, especially this year 😂😊

Oh no! Did you have trouble submitting your questionnaire too? They had to extend my deadline date to yeserday as the link wouldn’t work for submitting it, I only just submitted it on Friday and was told yesterday it’s been put on hold. I’ve emailed asking if it’s standard procedure this year due to the technical issues but awaiting a reply. Fingers crossed for us! 🤞have you applied anywhere else?
