Wanting attention, admiration from the opposite biological sex, to feel validated that another person finds their body attractive/sexy or trying to get a hookup/date.

For me personally, I'm in an LDR where we obviously can't to anything physical to get each other going. It's one of the main forms of intimacy for us two. Tbh no one I know personally knows that I've ever sent nudes before - just something between me and him (or at least it better be..!)

When I was younger I though I'd never ever send nudes because of the risk of revenge pxrn etc, but right now it's pretty much our only option!

I think that the girls who send them may have low self-esteem and the boys who ask for the photos know this.

I suspect that the girls in question are told that everyone is doing it and that refusing marks you out as weird as a way of ot putting pressure on them to oblige.

I think that these years are a time when everyone wants to feel that they belong and so they don't want to say that they don't think it's a good thing.

My advice to any teenage girl would be to never send this sort of photo. The kind of guy who tries to force the issue is not the kind of guy you want around you.

Every now and then I see threads on TSR from young girls who have shared photos like these and are now frightened and upset.

It's really something a smart girl would avoid.
