I think so, you're all adults. I never went for a drink with my own lecturers but I did go for drinks with lecturers, usually through societies that staff were allowed to be part of. They're usually pretty well-off if they're established too, so make sure they get the first round 😂
My lecturers have come for drinks with societies, so groups of students.
If it’s just the two of you, it’s probably not banned (depends on your uni’s rules on staff-student relationships etc) but probably discouraged. Personally I wouldn’t feel comfortable if a lecturer asked me.
Depends. their are exceptions & if your all happy to go then yea why not....
I went for one in my final year once, it was a group project and we had gotten to know our group supervisor reasonably well, he was a nice and it was an organic one off trip for a chat after a long day, was quite nice tbh. But this was quite unusual.
As a PhD student I find myself in the precarious postion of going to the pub (pre-covid) with other researchers who teach & also with undergrad/masters students from sports teams, honestly your all adults do what you want, just keep uni work professional.
I've been for drinks with lecturers, but it was as part of a group and as a postgraduate. I would be a bit cautious about going for drinks alone with a lecturer though, depending on the circumstances.
I would often go to the local pub with my lecturers, guest speakers, and fellow postgrads (as one big group). I wouldn't have gone if it had been a one-on-one thing.
