my parents are tories

well as you can tell by the title, my parents practically defend Boris and the tories no matter how many bad decisions they make. It's so embarrassing to me that even though they're immigrants themselves from not wealthy families they can blindly support someone who is against everything they are

especially with Marcus Rashford and the free school meals situation. My dad had the audacity to say no kid is starving in the UK when that is just not true. I honestly hate their views sometimes and so glad I didn't turn out with their mindset

The reality is politics is a shambles atm, what's amazing is the Labour front bench is even worse then the Tories. And the libdems wilfully asked more than half the country not to vote for them and wonder where it all went wrong.

The free school meals program is just another example of using the poor for political football (no pun intended). Yes their has always people on the breadline but the numbers being banded about are ridiculous, its no where close to a million children, that is just the number eligible for free school meals when the overwhelming majority of these kids are not in real poverty. Unfortunately its how do you address the kids with neglectful parents and who have been hit the hardest and their is no easy answer. The best way out of poverty and to help as many people as possible will continue to be an economically liberal free market society that provides opportunity and by investing in programs like apprenticeships & universities.

Also desite this being about the poor, its worth noting those in social classed C2,DE tend to vote conservative & those in ABC1 are more likely to vote labour or libdem.

it just frustrates me so much that they ignore the bad things, every time I bring something up they're just like well that's human nature. People ignore the good things tories have done and only focus on the bad. I guess it kinda makes sense but still you can't ignore reality

You can be a Tory and not defend the mass killer Mr Johnson. The Conservative Party has for nearly 200 years stood for law and order, business and morality. Mr Johnson cut police numbers whilst London Mayor, has harmed business with some of the late or bad decisions during the pandemic, and his 'chaotic' private life included leaving his wife whilst she was being treated for cancer. This government is Tory in name only.

You got my sympathy, this country along with America are filled with turkeys voting for christmas. However, we're ****ed for the next 4 years while America has a chance at redemption here.

I'm so sorry.

You know, I am labour and I do support Rashford for free school meals over the holidays and I know that there are children that do go hungry when they sleep. However, the government really has done a lot (this is just not about the Tories even the previous Labour govts have done what I’m going to write next) There are benefits and universal credit and this really does help families and even leaves them with lots of money left over (I’ve seen it with my best friends family and shes told me lots), besides that, food is really cheap in the U.K. so food shouldn’t be the problem. It’s the quality of parenting and whether a mother or father is willing to buy their children food and make them a meal. However, besides this there are many many problems that the Tory government isn’t great at and is a total disappointment so far.

universal credit is not great. there are issues with it, such as the 2 child benefit cap, the 5 week wait to get your first payment, etc. the full rollout of universal credit has been delayed by a couple more years because not enough people have been voluntarily moving over to it
