Feeling isolated and lonely during COVID-19

I’m a second year uni student and living off campus this year. I’ve been struggling to cope with COVID, especially as I usually struggle with stress.

I have so much work to do every week for my course that it’s honestly a joke. Only one of my flatmates (out of 4) has moved in, and he wants to spend all his free time with his girlfriend- in fact, she’s basically moved in with us for a short while. And to top it all off, I have to self isolate after coming into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID. I just feel very cut off from everyone and I’m pretty emotionally drained. The problem is I have no human contact with anyone really, and I just find myself being miserable when other people are having fun and I don’t get to have any of that. I don’t even want to text people or call my friends any more because I just feel like a shell of myself, and I don’t think I’m up to socialising.

Has anyone felt like this? What have other people done to stay sane if you’re pretty much on your own?
I think most people have felt like this.

Take heart in the social networks you have (albeit virtual of course). You can find company even with people who are not with you. It's important to talk and chat online too. But it can't be easy if the other person in you place has an intimate partner, I get it. Try a new online game you haven't played before or something, you can kill hours and hours on those things.

Keep your chin up, you're doing great. At least you have a roof over your head. X

I totally understand what you are going through.

However, with all things mental health you need to protect it.

Instead of feeling this way, you can replace your feelings with happy thoughts.

You could try watching a movie, read a book or write poetry.

It can serve as a good welcome distraction from the pains of the world.
