Oxford Geography 2021

Hey everyone! The main thread was a hot mess so I though i would make this so we could get a lil community together!!

Heres some starter qs!

Which college and why!
What were ur A level predicted grades and in what!
Why Oxford Geo?
Where else have you applied!

Im applying to Mansfield as the fellows there look AWESOME - my main interest is political/cultural geography :smile:

also it has good vibes and is very state school, which is a relief

Im predicted A*A*A(A) in English Politics and Geography, and ive just dropped biology lol

I loved the course so much, it seemed to have so much variety and my gut really loved all the open day stuff!

I'm applying to Durham, Exeter, York and Nottingham - all for combined honours courses actually! I'm not 100% set that I wanna go to Oxford - I'd just like to keep the option open, but I LOVE geo so much so I'd defo love to get in! I think its better to not have all ur hopes on one place :smile:

I applied to Keble, i read about the tutors and their research and they’re inline with my interests as well so i thought it’s a good fit.

A* (Geography), A* (Philosophy and Ethics), A* (Spanish), A (Arabic) and A (Maths)

Oxford Geo because i really like that they integrate both Human and Physical Geography together in their degree.

I’ve applied to UCL, KCL, Queen Mary for Geography
and applied to LSE for Geography with Economics[/ltr]

Thank you, so do you !! With oxford everyone doubts their odds tbh, but as long as we tried that’s all that matters :smile:

I applied to St Catherine's - seems like a friendly college, and they promote music too! (Which works well with my interests.)

I am predicted A* A* A* in Geog, Maths, and Physics.

THE course! Like you guys said, they seem to cover a huge spectrum of areas, and the opportunities to explore self-interests in years 2/3 seems awesome.

I also applied to Durham, Manchester, and Nottingham - and I got an offer from Exeter last week.

Yhh i think around the same as well, but near the time when i was going to send it i made a few quick changes here and there just to fit the word count

Hi!!
I’m late to the party and surprised I haven’t already seen this!

I applied to Jesus for Geography- I love the college location, the tutors seem great and I just get good vibes from the college.

Predicted A*A*A*A in Geography, Economics, EPQ and English Literature respectively - also have AABB at AS, with a B in Maths (the subject I dropped).

I never really imagined applying to Oxford, I literally just stumbled across the course, read the course structure and I really loved it. I love the integration and later flexibility of the course, and the interdisciplinary nature of the degree and subject as a whole.

My GCSEs are 6 A*s 4As (hopefully submitting extenuating circumstances)

I’ve so far got offers from York, Bristol, Exeter and Birmingham so I’m just waiting for Oxford now😬

Good luck everyone- I’ve seen a few geographers about but not many!!

Did you guys get confirmation emails from your colleges a few days ago too?

no i haven’t got one from jesus yet :/ they said by the end of the month so they’ll probably send it through this week

But to be honest as long as the uni sent u a confirmation u will 100% get one from ur chosen college if not then it’s defo a mistake :smile:

I applied to Oxford because I love the synthesis of physical and human geog elements in the course, the field trip and facilities.

we applied to 3 of the same! bristol bham and bristol. i’ve received offers from all of mine but oxford so fingers crossed haha

hi i’ve applied to Jesus college! one of the people’s specialism is exactly in line with my epq so thought it would be good :smile:

i’m predicted A*A*A*A* (geography economics psychology epq)

the course is so good especially in the second and third years!

and i’ve also applied to durham leeds cardiff southampton (and ive got offers back from all 4!)

i’m exactly the same!! applied to jesus! my epq is on african politics and development so the exact interests of the human geography tutor. what are your gcses like?

wow that’s amazing haha!! i feel out of my depth now. i got 6 A*s 4 As, but have applied for extenuating circumstances so hopefully that pulls through and if i’m reallocated to another college i’m not too worried! :smile:
