The course covers a great range of texts, especially in first year! You basically cover everything from Old English to 20th century (plus you get to do more classical texts if you are doing the single-subject degree) before you get to specialise which is really nice imo :smile:

One of the cooler things about York is that the department like *really* nice and genuinely care about the students, the head of department is fantastic as well (she put Disney in our welcome lectures last year and it was awesome).
Finally, if you choose the medieval literature module in second year you actually get to explore York as a medieval city and feel way more attached to where you live as a result. I'm working on a medieval York presentation for an assignment right now and it is great!
