Not happy at my current university

Hey, I'm currently in the same situation as you. I missed my ABC offer at Kings for Pharmacy this year so i ended up at a different uni but I'm really not enjoying it at the moment. I've been thinking about retaking too but for the same reasons as you, i just dont know if I should because theres a risk I might not even get the grades. Ugh I dont know what to do

I am a current Physics student at Kings and as far as I know, transfers do take place and I personally know of students who transferred from other Universities to Kings. You however need to meet the A level requirements and achieve a 2:1 in your first year

hi! do you know of anyone that hasn't got the a level requirements but achieved a 2:1 and transferred onto first year study instead of second year? essentially redoing first year because they didn't get the a levels? Because of the whole covid situation, obviously we didn't sit our exams and its not guaranteed that exams wont be cancelled this year as well so re sitting isn't really the correct decision. I really wont mind re doing first year if it means I can study at kings.

Sorry this isn’t really about your post but what’s Cardiff uni like and is there anything about the uni in general that makes you dislike it? I’ve put it down as one of my options for psych lol

Kings won't take you without the correct A level grades -

yeah I feel like they wont but ive read some posts where people successfully transferred without having met the A level grades, so I asked them anyway as there will be no harm.

I am currently at Cardiff University studying chemistry and I don't really feel happy at the moment. I initially wanted to study at Kings College London and because my given grades were BBC, I missed my offer of ABC for pharmacy at King's. I am thinking about transferring to kings and redo my first year of chemistry providing that I have achieved at least a 2:1 at cardiff, but I don't even know if that is an option for me. I am trying to contact kings about it through kings apply, but I think they are currently closed at the moment so I wont get a reply till 2nd November. Every time I wake up from my sleep I always think to myself whether dropping out and take a gap year while resitting one or two of my A levels is really the right decision. I don't want to be disappointing my parents, but I am really not feeling it at cardiff and I just know if I was at kings, I would have enjoyed every moment of it. maybe I should just focus on my current degree and get used to this feeling but I really don't know what to do. If I do resit my a levels, I cant even guarantee myself that I will get a better grade. I am really lost at the moment and everyday feels depressing for me.

Not there though ... why not look at transferring somewhere else?

Hi, I am a student who also obtained BCC at a level and I decided to take a gap year as I am someone who hates to settle. I am now currently working towards 2021 summer exams and I can honestly say it is the best decision I made. I am gutted that I didn't go to university this year but due to the current covid-19 situation all my friends seem to be having a terrible time and you should ask yourself would you rather go to the uni of your choice and put hard work in or settle with a degree you didn't even want to specialise in and go to a uni you dislike? Overall my advice to you is to take this gap year and work so hard towards the summer exams so you don't even have to question your suitability at the university you will attend. Your parents won't be any less proud of you for taking a gap year so you can have a brighter future. Hope this helps (it is a bit biased but its my honest opinion)

hi! thank you for your advice. I am still unsure of everything atm because dont you have to also pay for the a level exams yourself while also self teach? I feel like its really risky for me to do that. say for example, i do worse than my predicted, will that grade be stuck with me forever? Or do we keep the grade that is higher?
