decision mathematics help !!

decision mathematics 1, a level

so in exercise 5A , question 2 b, can someone explain why the shortest way is 20? it says the answer is ABECEDEBA (20) but cant u do ABEDECBA which is 19 ?

i recently started decision maths and this is eating at me someone tell me what im doing wrong

Apologies, must have missed this :colondollar:

To me it seems you're correct, however I am 2 years out of A level now, so I may have forgotten something important in terms of solving it...
the textbooks did often have mistakes in though, so I wouldn't be surprised!
