What am I meant to do or say?

I was just talking about my first car to my friend and what I should get he was suggesting Fiestas that are within my budget but they are manual. I’m only going to pass in an automatic embarrassing I know but it’s better than the bus and now drivers.

Anyway my friend was showing all these Fiestas and they are all manuals but within my budget so he’s suggesting them but I can’t get them because I need an auto and they cost more obviously. It’s like when I pass I’m going to take him for a spin at some point and he’ll look at the gearbox to see it’s an automatic, he won’t ditch me or do anything but I know he’s going to be very disappointed.

Ahhh what do I do, I was going to say straight up mate I’m only going to pass in an auto bro but I’m too scared. This is not even funny I struggled to drive a manual car and I know it’s embarrassing, I could have probably done it with more practice but I just wanted to learn quicker and it might have took so much longer if I did manual but ah. I seriously don’t know what to say it’s going to be so embarrassing and disappointing seriously there’s so much stigma to automatic drivers. I’m going anon for this because I’m embarrassed.
I highly doubt he’ll care whether it’s a manual or an automatic -and if he does then he’s not much of a friend tbh.
Just tell him you were able to get the auto car cheaper. He doesn’t have to know. Just lie. Nothing to be embarrassed about whatsoever, look at it this way, in America they all use autos, and even though I learnt in a manual I’d still love to have an auto lol. Say you prefer the ease of an auto. Just don’t be embarrassed about it

Heya why don't you just be honest and say you only know auto. You can always learn manual in a couple years or so if you really want to!

Nothing wrong with driving an auto and being a car guy. I mean, let's be honest anyway, all these supercars and whatnot use some form of automatic box anyway, either a fully-fledged auto box or an AMT, the latter being the most common in high-performance vehicles IIRC. Kinda hard to knock driving an auto when the cars you guys like drool over are auto boxes as well.
