How does UCAS process work?

Is it possible to apply to a uni and not hear anything from them till results day? I don't understand how the whole process works, like when do you choose your firm and insurance and can you only choose them if they've given you an offer?
Go onto the UCAS website and watch the videos that explain the process.

No.

There are deadlines for the unis to respond to you. If they don't respond it's an automatic rejection.

You can only choose a firm and insurance once you have recieved offers.

You can find all the key dates on the UCAS website.
