I give up.

Well, I never really understand why things never go my way. I always try so hard but I genuinely think I’m just not good enough. I applied to 4 uni’s (quite competitive) and I’ve been rejected from 2/4 of them, and currently just waiting on another rejection. My mum is expecting me to go to university but I feel like crying, and I have really negative thoughts right now. I haven’t told her yet and I have no idea how I’m going to. I give up. I’ve never been the type to brag, my GCSE’s were decent but didn’t get top grades as much as I tried. I don’t understand why things never go my way. My predicted grades are AAB, my maths teacher predicted me a B because I didn’t even do the test. Idek anymore I feel like my life is slowly deteriorating.

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time right now :frown: Don't be too down on yourself, you still have two potential uni offers coming your way, and if you don't get them, although it is disheartening, everything happens for a reason and it will all work out. You will still be able to go through clearing so I would suggest looking into some other unis so you feel more comfortable if you do end up being rejected. If you're only going to uni because your mum wants you to, maybe it isn't right for you. At least not yet. If you're not sure, taking a year out will give you more time to decide what's right for you. Your life definitely isn't deteriorating, you're just a bit stuck at the minute, and that's ok, you will work through this. There also isn't a time limit on going to uni, going in a couple of years won't make you a worse student, you just have to do what's best for you.

Don't be too hard on yourself about the rejections. It can be hard to deal with because it's not what you were expecting but you are still waiting on two more offers so just keep on doing your best and see what comes. There's no help worrying about what's not even happened yet and you'll only make yourself worse. So as difficult as it might be, take it easy on yourself, you're doing so well and applying for uni is super stressful! Maybe have a talk with your mum about how you're feeling about it as well, she might be able to help you.

All the best

Yeah, it’s really disheartening. I’m trying so hard to not think about it but im having really negative thoughts right now. im not really going for my mum or anything but I had my whole life planned out to her, I told her what I wanted to do at university since like year 9, and like now I can’t even get to the starting line is very depressing. I just want my life to be over, if i get 4 rejections I don’t really know what I’m going to do. There’s this particular course that I want to do and nothing else, so this is like everything for me. I’m just worried that I’ve tried so hard these past 3 years and nothing has ever gone my way.

If I talk to my mum about this shes definitely going to be very upset. Ughh. Im just very very sad at the minute, I’m trying my hardest for it not to affect me but I’m really having negative thoughts. I haven’t studied today because i just mentally cant :frown:
I'm sorry to hear that.

Never give up.

Please if you tell your mum, you did your best, I know that's all that's going to matter.

Try talking to someone you trust outside of home (eg Teachers).

Universities can be incredibly competitive but I wish you the best of luck with the other applications.

I'll be completely honest with you getting an accepted application is a state of mind if you believe you will get it, then you will get it.

So I wish you the best of Luck.

Just Never Give up. There are always ways you can achieve your desired outcome.

Thank you for the reminder.

I think I’ll contact as soon as it get the 4 rejections because that’s when it’ll be at its peak
I have no friends to talk to this about so I’m just trapped in my own thoughts which is diminishing

I had similar thoughts back at gcse but i didn’t think about it too much since I got into sixth form, but now it’s like the final jump and I feel like I’m practically clinging onto the edge. My teachers really don’t support me, I’m viewed as “the quite one” I never really talk in class or anything and they assume I’m always okay. My maths teacher didn’t give me an A, despite me getting an A all year so that made me really sad as well. I’ll try to believe I will get it, I’ve been trying to keep positive but there’s always a voice in my head that just reminds me constantly

I want you to say to yourself "I can do this" every time you face a difficulty and trust me everything will be fine.

Please please please get help if you're struggling, even just opening up to someone close to you can make the world of a difference. Being 'the quiet one' can be difficult because everyone just expects you to be fine because you just get on with things, but you're allowed to not be fine and you're allowed to ask for help. I'm sure you're mum won't be upset if you explain to her how your feeling about this. It may feel like you have no one to talk to about this but once you take the first step I promise you will feel better. I'm also always up for a chat if you're feeling down, I know how suffocating it can be to deal with all these thoughts by yourself. You've got this

I don’t want to make my mum upset because shes currently just battling a brain haemorrhage, so it’s really upsetting. She was in the hospital earlier this year for quite a extended period of time and she hasnt really recovered fully. Also, I’m not the most fortunate when it comes to money either, i never want to pester her for any money because i know that she goes through things too. I don’t have friends - can’t meet up due to not having money, so I Basically just stay in my room for a long period of time..
I find it a bit hard to socialise because I’m just so used to being alone

Yeah i normally go to the shops / walks as a form of distraction, i guess. It’s too cold nowadays and there’s no heating in my room so that’s demotivated me from going out to the shops. Thanks for giving me the option to talk to you, I will if it ever gets too much, thank you  I hope you smash your GCSE’s also, just try your very hardest !
