No. But care workers are getting the vaccine first.

Yes unfortunately. But care workers are getting the vaccine first.

How do you know, are there any sources that say so?

Not that I mean to second guess you or anything 😄

I don’t think it’ll be mandatory yet, however as everything that could change.
I can't see them making it mandatory, that would be a legal minefield for the NHS to navigate. They can strongly advise you have it though.

I'm going to have it once I'm able to.

Do you know if this extends to NHS students?

Everyone that works in healthcare so presumably the students that work in the NHS would have to partake too considering they too work alongside the patient.

You should retract your statement if you have no source reference or documented proof

No vaccine has ever been mandated in the UK. There is no legal precedent for it.

When I started my nursing degree I had to have certain vaccines in order to begin the course. Isn’t this classed as mandatory?
Being strongly pressured to have a vaccine is not the same as vaccines being mandated. Everyone has a choice.

I corrected myself in post 6.
NHS workers have been pressured before to take rushed out vaccines with dire consequences

I would totally support any health care worker who exercised their human right to not take a vaccine.

Health workers are routinely tested for Covid. If they are Covid negative then they can't put others at risk. That's all that matters.

Vaccination neither guarantees that the person is fully protected or that they still can't carry and spread the virus.

It's largely a red herring

What matters is good testing and the government should have been piling £millions into the development and roll-out of extremely accurate testing kits and should have sent them out freely to every household in the UK.

The nurse said I couldn’t start the course without it
I’ll just leave this here.

I bet she did. My self I would have questioned that and asked for written documentation.

I've reviewed a few nursing degree websites as a result of you raising this. I noted that they use careful phrasing.

For example the one I just read used the phrase "you should be vaccinated" for . . . . and lists various diseases.

It doesn't say "you must be vaccinated for"

Life is full of people using psychological techniques to influence and control us. It happens everywhere, in business, in religion and clearly in the health services. NHS staff are often pressured to take Flu vaccines and the NHS runs incentive bonus schemes to encourage people to take the shots. Despite that 1000s of NHS staff refuse to have them (imo very sensibly). Nevertheless I expect they will continue to be pressured to take them year on year.

All of the above pales into insignificance when you peel away the curtains and look at the actual legal situation regarding making people have vaccines. Your health is your responsibility and you should be aware of your rights in relation to it imho. We all should.

You can inform work , you have no interest in participating in the vaccine.

Have you been told it is compulsory to have it? Have they told you how they will access your medical records to check that you have had it? Have they said what the 'punishment' is if you don't have it, or can't have it?

You may well face a lot of pressure to have it, as it will very likely prevent transmission and without it you might kill your patients, but I highly doubt they can make it compulsory.
