I go to the university of my home city and I’m currently first year, I’ve made an application for housing with my flatmates but I might drop out of it as we’ve had conflict over some issues which has made me resent them and not want to move in with them next year. I was looking at getting a student studio accommodation but I can’t afford it so now I’m looking at moving back home.
I have to share a room at home with my sister whose a few years younger which isn’t great and it takes about 30 mins on a bus to get to the city centre from my house but would this be a good thing for me to do considering not wanting to house share with my flatmates next year?

Any other options like Hall or another student flatshare?
Your fall out sounds pretty serious and unlikely to be repaired?
You have an idea what uni might be like (CV19 has distorted everything), but if you make an effort you can still socialise through societies and course mates.. If your reservations are as serious as you say, then do not sign the contract as if you do then you are bound for a year.
If you make up then check if it will last and its not just to get the house. If the split is permanent then seek another option.

Its still some time off so you could drop out of the flat and use the home thing as a fallback, then see what else might crop up. Still time to make new friends when uni opens up.

Thats what I would do. Danger of being at home is sharing a room upsets your study and am sure your sister would prefer the room to herself. Still time for things to unfold. Youve only been there eight weeks?

I have home to fall back on but I can’t see myself being happy living with them as we have conflicting views over covid (I get tested regularly so I’m able to see my family/bf etc which they don’t like) if covid continues into next year they’re going to prevent me from seeing people outside of the uni bubble which is the reason I am not looking forward to the house share/want to drop out of it

Then drop out.
