RAF Application - OASC

I am currently midway through my RAF application to become a Pilot and have a few questions about OASC.
Firstly, is there any current affairs? I have read in the RAF information pack that there isn't but I have read that there is elsewhere.
Are there further aptitude tests since I am applying for an aircrew trade? If so, is there any advice anyone could give me on that?
And lastly, is there any part of the interview that tests you on your knowledge of day-to-day life of an RAF Officer / Specialised branch? Because I have spoken to some pilots and they haven't really been able to tell me an awful lot of the extra social activities, any responsibilities etc. that they had on base.
Any info or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Use the search function. There are accounts from people who have recently undergone OASC and their posts will tell you all you need to know.

How far are you actually through the process have you done the CBAT or Filter Interview yet?

for you're First part - Yes there is current affairs covered but this is only covered in your first filter interview not in the OASC 12 minute interview

2nd - The only aptitude tests are the CBAT which is normally the first thing you will do after viewing the P2 presentation, these are not part of OASC and no further specifically branch based tests take place at OASC.

3rd - again for either of the interviews you'll go through there not so much day to day ie tell me what a day in the life of an RAF pilot looks like but particularly at the OASC interview boarding officers here will be drilling down on specifics of training, which specialism would you choose and why? Current deployments etc that's the branch specific questioning that's looked for.

thanks danzinin for the reply.

I have done P2, CBAT, Interview, Medical and waiting on fitness.
And so, from what you've said, there is no current affairs in the second interview at OASC, nor are there any further aptitude tests that take place during OASC. It is just the hangar familiarisation, planning exercises, interview and that is it ?
When you say what specialism would you choose and why? What do you mean by that ?

Thanks again for the reply.

I'm amazed that you've got this far without knowing, or being told, what the selection process involves.

Correct no current affairs on OASC interview and no further aptitude.

So for pilot you could be asked whether you'd want to either fast jet, transport or helicopter/rotary wing, so you may get asked which of these and why

Know all, though, because it's not a choice.

Thank you for the responses Drewski and danzinin. I have an answer for all three should they ask about any one in particular. But I gather that they will stream you into any branch that they need to fill.
