Hey Lottie i'm at ljmu at the minute and i stayed in Europa, such a lovely place and the staff are great too you feel safe as well, it's further out then some accomodations so like a 20 minute walk from town but closer to some of the uni buildings.

From my experience it can be a bit hit or miss with some places, I've not heard great thinks about grand central but then again a lot has been down to who you're living with. I've got friends living in St Luke's view and Horizon Heights and they're nice rooms, I'd say it's worth figuring out what you value more like double bed, en-suite etc I personally wanted an en-suite just for more privacy so think of those things and you're budget and see whats best!

Hi there,

The best place to live depends on what you want personally in your halls. If you have an idea about certain places, have any questions ect let me know and I can hopefully help

Hi, I’m hopefully starting in September at the city campus and wondered what would be good for first year. I want to be able to party and close to the centre. I want to be able to mix with people at the city campus and not just IM and uni of x

Although some halls do have a reputation of being louder than others, wanting to be close to the centre for example doesn't narrow your options down really because they all are central, have first years and have a mix of students from different unis
In terms of "partying" reputations (which i wouldnt rely on that heavily as now for example due to covid, no parties should be taking place and also generally it just depends on the year and which flatmates youre put with/near so theres no guarantees) you're probably looking at the likes of grand central, atlantic point and europa to name a few

I lovee byrom point! Would highly recommend but its a really quiet (which i liked) accomodation. I definitely wouldnt say its a party type accomodation at all imo
Horizon heights is alright. I prefer byrom to it personally, but there are definitely worse places. Id probably rank it mid-way in terms of halls choices personally. Its one of the newer modern ones (but so it byrom tbf). Its definitely a more social accommodation then byrom is though
Both locations are really good. Theyre not too dissimilar really

Ohh okay. Thankyou! When you say it’s really quiet, do people not socialise! X
grand centrals studios are big and cheap, although they are not as modern but i still found it ok for me. Although they are sort of on their own and you wont have flatmates. I stayed in a studio in Ablett house, more expensive but more modern (not necessarily a better room), but you then have flat mates and a shared kitchen also which is good

but im trying to choose between byrom point and grand central studios. byrom's are a bit more expensive but idk if its because they're better or because they're closer to campus or something. so do you think it is better to go with byrom or risk it and go to grand central?

(idk if what i posted earlier did post and this is your reply)

It depends which uni you are / which course your doing if your at LJMU , byrom point is right beside the byrom street building for LJMU which is mainly sciences, but grand central is closer to UoL and other LJMU buildings. Although, both are very central and 5 mins away from each other

yeah I'm going to LJMU so I will probably go with Byrom. also do you know if its true that ljmu doesn't let under 21's get a studio when applying from their website

Hey late question can you tell me a bit more about the studios of grand central? How are the noises from the other studios in the block like etc?

Do you hear the noises from the other apartments eg the ones that has shared kitchens etc? Also whats in the studios at grand central? In the LJMU website the studios have just a fridge, microwave, oven etc. But on Unite website they all say there is fridge/freezer etc.

Also according to google maps theres a gym opposite the grand central reception is that part of Grand Central or is that the Horizon students gym? (Asking because I know those two accommodations are next door to each other).

Asking because I was thinking of applying for the Grand Central studios, I know my friend applied for one of the studios and got one in Block B floor 3 but she hasn't seen their studios and we are both worried, as mature students (and on a tight budget). I was tempted with the studios with Bryom but I know there is basically not alot of space there in their kitchen to put anything and an extremely small fridge
