Geography a level help!

Assess the characteristics which have influenced the place identity and changes over time of two contrasting places that you have studied. (16) what could be some possible points that I could say?
Migration patterns over time eg UK vs Japan
- UK is more diverse because of post war migration patterns + being in the EU vs. migration to Japan not being permanent for many (ie for work + education)

Immigration policy differences between the UK and Japan (possibly a stronger point than the above as it impacts migration patterns)
- Japan's isolationist immigration policy

Hope this helps!

The user above suggested some good ideas about comparing and contrasting different historical geographies of migration and immigration in two different countries over time. Much historical migration and immigration within UK for example is influenced by the British Empire, the Windrush generation coming from the Caribbean in 1948, links with other parts of the British empire such as the influence of Indian cuisine and tea in the UK is another example. This has created a multicultural / cosmopolitan society. You can compare this to Japan's isolationist immigration policy, difficulty of learning the Japanese language and cultural assimilation, history during world war II or present overpopulation in urban areas.
