RAF Int. An. Specialist Interview COVID

Hi guys
I've been reading a lot of the forum question in regards to the RAF Int. AN. specialist interview however i can't find one relevant for how the interview is being carried out at the moment because of covid. I have part 1 of the interview soon which is supposed to be 2.5 hours. I have asked my afco but they haven't been able to advise me on what i can prepare for this. I have no idea what to expect or what i should prepare or revise? Will this be based around DV? I understand due to the nature of the role it will be hard to advise me but just the general gist would be incredibly helpful!
Any help would be appreciated!
Jen.

Hi Jen, sorry I can’t help you with your specific question other than to say the interview is unlikely to be anything to do with a DV. They won’t start the vetting process until after you’ve passed all the selection and have a conditional offer of service.

You may wish to speak with @Treebeard! who is going for the officer role but managed to touch base with serving intelligence personnel. He or they may have some relevant information to help you, but good luck with your application.

Hi Jen,

I was in the same boat before my specialist interview. My experience was it was done on teams, so there was a few other applicants on the call too. The first part was more of them telling us about the role and having group discussions. And then the second part was my individual interview. Everyone else leaves the call and it’s just the interview board on there. This part is where they will dig deep about your knowledge. Especially current affairs.

So my advice to you is to brush up on your general knowledge.. for example: aircraft; raf bases etc. And also current affairs!!

It’s fairly laid back, not too much to worry about. Just dress smart, and make sure you know your stuff. But don’t be discouraged if they ask a question you don’t know the answer to. You’re not going to know everything, they just want to see what you know and what you don’t.

I’m not sure if your experience will be the same as mine. But I do hope that I could help.

Hi guys, thankyou so much for getting back to me! I had it today and turns out it was the test - I should find out how I did in about a week! The interview section will be next and I think it will be on teams.

I think my part 2 will be this!! Did you have to prepare a presentation at all? And how did you find interview, was it quite chill? I'll brush up on my general knowledge, I'm guessing similar stuff to the interview at the beginning of our application? And in regards to current affairs, how in depth should my knowledge be on this?

Hey, sorry I didn’t see that you replied. I didn’t have to prepare a presentation, which I was quite happy with as I think it would be really hard over teams😅 The interview itself was pretty chill and most of the first part is them telling you about the role and the day to day tasks during training. Try to get involved in the group discussions. Make sure you dress smart too. In regards to current affairs, go as in depth as you can. Do as much research as you can into it, especially the Middle East. I thought I was prepared for this but there was a lot of questions the interviewer asked that I didn’t know the answer to. I hope I could help. Please pm me if you have any further questions about this or about anything really. Best of luck!!

I have my teams interview part in 2 weeks! Any chance you could give a bit more of an insight into what it's like and what to expect? Thank you
