Impeachment Day

The evidence they’re using is flimsy, it’s all down to interpretation and it’s all circumstantial. I don’t condone what happened at the capitol but the evidence is next to nothing, it doesn’t actually prove he was responsible for the attacks or prove he ordered them

He didn’t order the attacks but he did get his followers wound up to the point where they decided to do it and then he didn’t specifically tell them to stop. It’s more that he encouraged that to happen rather than actually coordinating it that’s the issue.

This entire situation could’ve been avoided if he’d conducted himself like literally any other president!

Says who?

No implicit instructions were given to storm the capital. -says one side.

He told them to storm the capital -says another side.

Meanwhile the vast majority of us in the middle see both sides acting equally as bad.

He'd spent weeks lying about the reliability of the election, even declaring in advance that if Biden won, that would be illegal. He called for the mass demonstration and then told the mob to march to the Capitol and Stop the Steal by Fighting like Hell. He even said he would be coming along, although of course that was another lie.

Which part is ambiguous?

The democrats spent months arguing about the previous election results.

Guess what, both sides are equally bad.

No side gets to take the moral high ground in American politics. They’re both as equally bad.

I think if you go digging you’ll find enough dirt on any American president. I think though some people are her ally scared of Trump due to the level of support he still has.

The only way they can neutralise Trumps threat is to get him impeached. Otherwise he can return for the next elections. And let’s be honest, Biden and co aren’t exactly doing anything ground breaking so far. Same sh*t different face.

I suspect that this will be turned out into a long drawn out saga where something minor will pinned on him. Those on the left will say told you so. Those in the right will claim a conspiracy.

Demonstration Happened. One unarmed protestor shot and killed. One died after being tankless. One died of a heart attack and one died of a stroke. One police officer died of a stroke.

Hardly the casualty list you’d expect from a highly violent coup. I’m seen more injuries and death sustained on a Saga cruise.

Still, it’s entertaining to watch people on both sides spinning themselves up into a frenzy which the irony being that they’re both the types of people that seem to be the ones causing the trouble.

Citation needed. Clinton conceded around 36 hours after the election.

Guess what. Both sides are equally bad.

Again, citation needed. Do you have any evidence that Clinton was actively trying to actively overturn the election? Was she say ringing state officials and asking them to find votes?

Why are you talking about Clinton?

He’s not wrong, the left spent the whole 4 years trying to invalidate his term and the Democrats were all absolutely certain Hillary would win.

First of all, no serious attempt was made by Democrats to claim the election was invalid once Trump became President. There were some queries raised in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania about irregularities, but once those were settled, the Dems accepted the results. Trump did the exact opposite. He kept on declaring the result to be invalid and even illegal long after the courts had ruled. He contested it right to the final certification and tried to have that certification overthrown by violence.

Democrats accepted the result once it was confirmed. Obama did everything he could to smooth the path of the incoming administration. By contrast, Trump refused even to accept defeat and actively tried to block the transition.

You perhaps aren't aware that there have been a number of suicides of Capitol police officers since the attempted coup.
Lol.

"The attorney Bruce Castor who has been widely compared to the hapless Lionel Hutz, of Simpsons fame, reportedly to Trump’s fury closed the defence’s case. He attempted to refer to the Georgia secretary of state who resisted Trump’s demands to overturn his defeat there, demands which have put Trump in legal jeopardy.

The politician in question is Brad Raffensperger. Castor called him Ben Roethlisberger: a known Trump associate by night but by day, alas for the hapless Castor, quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers."

Very civil.

Suicides don’t count. Mental health issues that may or may not have been linked with a demonstration (not a coup) can’t be used to inflate your body count fetish.

5 people died that day. One was an unarmed protestor who was shot. 1 was trampled to death and 3 suffered strokes/heart attacks.

I’m not even aware that anybody shot at the police.

if your claiming the storming of a government building constitutes a coup, I want this bunch of entitled middle class kids strung up at traitors gate immediately .

Calling some witnesses now.

McConnell (loathsome reptile that he is) has confirmed he is voting to acquit (odd that, given he's not yet heard all the evidence - perhaps he is a superman juror who does not need to) - we should remember this, it's the day when the Republican Party leadership abandoned the rule of law and made it right to use force to grab control of the country.

There’s people wanting to convict without seeing any of the evidence.

Going down to the vote now with some final speeches.

Listening to the evidence, it's just incredible that Republicans are going to acquit. The only possible conclusion is that they have abandoned all sense of morality in favour of saving their own skins and all sense of genuine patriotism in favour of sleaze and decay.

This is a very bad day for America and the world.

Your understanding of American politics is so piss poor that you can't distinguish between the normal litigations around US elections and Trump's actions?

I see both sides as equally bad.

What I find amusing is people so invested in a debate that they have no influence on.

One side wins. The other side start crying.

The other side wins, then the other side start crying.

It shows how bad thinks are in both the democratic and republican camps.

The sad thing is that even within the U.K., thugs have got so polar. People seem to have lost all levels of tolerance and common ground.

Maybe the EU has the right idea and bypass the electorate .

ffs
At least some Republicans had the cajones to vote to convict. The rest are a bunch of shameless cowardly sleazes.
