Always tired

Anyone else literally always tired like I never have any energy to do things. I can sleep 8-12 hours at night and then quite easily take a 5 hour nap the next day. I thought maybe I had anaemia but I got a blood test and everything was fine. I’m starting a new apprenticeship soon and I’m not looking forward to it because I know it’s going to drain the little energy I have and then I’m not going to be able to get anything done.

I do an hour of exercise a day 3-6 times a week at the moment. When I was younger I used to swim and do karate but it didn’t changed how tired I was.
Always tired, wake up tired go to sleep tired, no matter how well I sleep.

Not gonna lie my doctor isn’t very good. I went to the doctors recently about migraine headaches and heart palpitations and they didn’t really help. They gave me some higher dosage ibuprofen for the headaches which doesn’t work and got me a blood test. They didn’t even care about the heart palpitations.

I stopped drinking caffeine which helped with the migraines but now I don’t function.

THIS! I don’t have trouble sleeping at all but I’m always exhausted.
Can I ask what kind of specialist? My GP didn't do anything other than some blood tests (which I had to really push for)
I see.

I hope they manage to work out what's wrong and to help you.
Me too, I sleep for 13 hours and still wake up so tired.

Yeah I’d go to your gp as it can be a sign of insufficiency such as vitamin d or iron or could be thyroid related, but obviously only your gp can confirm this
When I go to the gp they only want to look at one thing at a time even though it could all be related which is stupid. If I brought up palpitations and exhaustion they’d only look into one and not the other :frown: I hope you find out what’s wrong though!

I had a blood test last time I went but everything was normal. Other than that my gp was super unhelpful and they didn’t listen to me.
The problem with fatigue is it's a non-specific symptom and loads of different things can cause it. Explain how debilitating this is getting for you and hopefully your GP will get to the bottom of it or they will refer you to a specialist who might have the answers.

Does this happen when you're upright (the high heart rate), just out of curiosity?

Aww that’s frustrating, I’ve been there myself, could you request to see a different doctor

Maybe go back and express your concerns to the doctor because you have a right as the patient to raise concerns. You can also request to see another doctor/ get another doctors input. Hope you get well soon!

I’ve already seen 3 different ones and all told me the exact same things. It’s also difficult to get appointments where I live unless you go to the walk in centre but I won’t have time to as I’m starting an apprenticeship.
Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll look into it and see if it helps. But tbh I think my tiredness is more mental health related.
That's good to hear.

Sometimes I get tachycardia when I'm laying down too (I have occasional SVT episodes), but mostly it happens when I'm upright. I have something called dysautonomia though, it can cause fatigue and such as well (does for me!). Hope your sleep specialist goes well, they can be really useful (mine is anyway). Really hope you find answers. If you ever need an ear at all, feel free to PM.

Really hope you and OP get symptom relief soon!
