Any other y13 just really struggling

I’ve always been a pretty decent student, not getting the highest in the class but doing pretty well. I do chem bio and maths for a level and honestly this lockdown has just made me lose all confidence in myself. I’m doing bad in all my subjects now and I just feel so overwhelmed. I’m guessing this is normal for a levels but has lockdown had an effect on this too. Is anyone else feeling like this because I feel like everyone else in my classes are always doing so well.

Hey,
I’m in year 12 so I may not be in the same situation but lockdown is very hard on most people. I’m also doing maths A level as well as English, economics and drama. What do you find the hardest, the content or your motivation to do the work?
For me I would say it’s both in a way.
I have a test this Thursday for mechanics book 1 and I feel that I’m going to fail, I feel worthless compared to any of my classmates- I enjoy the content to an extent until I have no idea what the hell I’m doing :frown:

Yeah I feel exactly the same. I'm doing psychology, biology and geography and my grades have just dropped since y12 because I can't work well from home and it's starting to feel hopeless. I was an A grade student but now I'm at the bottom of my classes and not where I need to be for my uni offers.

You're not alone, I think more people feel like this than speak out about it. We just have to keep trying our best - we're almost there. Hopefully universities will be a bit more flexible this year.

dsjsksk a level geography is going to be the end of me. I'm in Y13 studying Bio chem and geography and whilst its not been easy bio and chem I've found have been not too bad in terms of content to learn. Can I ask about how your revising for geography because im screwed

Maths is always so hard because you’re surrounded by such academically able people plus half of them will be doing further maths! I think it’s a mix too y13 context just feels like it piles up on you :frown:. If you need mechanics help feel free to pm me, I’m not that good but maybe I could be useful!

I just kinda wonder what ofqual are going to do about it because there’s a clear disadvantage to us and I’m still worried about the uncertainty of our grades. I know they’ve said our teachers are giving us grades but our teachers need something to work off of and rn I’m making a bad impression on them :frown: .

I'm doing OCR. Mostly I've just been doing mind maps and summarising notes, although tbh recently I haven't done much because ive been focused on my coursework. My teachers give us a LOT of practise questions as well.

I don't think there's any way of making it fair now, since no 2 people are in the same situation. My data will be rubbish too cuz I was ill during mocks so I screwed them up. Hopefully they'll give us the benefit of the doubt to an extent, and make our CAGs slightly higher rather than lower. At least the teachers have been told not to use anything we've done from home to give us our grade.

Dude trust me I am in the same boat as you, I feel like everyone over lockdown has been revising while I have been wasting it just doing nothing....I just hope that whatever the goverment plan to do with exam grades, people that obviously found online learning hard, must be accounted for in some way....

You are not the only one! I feel the same way :/ - everyone else in my class is doing well too. This lockdown is affecting everyone in some way. I guess, starting from today try and breakdown each topic and tackle them bit by bit. Have faith in yourself and do not over-stress- do what you can do!

Feel like the fact we’re all applying to uni just adds to the stress of everything. I never really expected a levels to be this hard which is naive I guess. There are people in my classes who do so well and I just feel like I’m doing something wrong all the time.

Literally, the word revision makes my heart race. School has managed to make me so nervous about everything and always scared about how I’m doing and just always feeling I’m doing terribly. Yay!!!

My advice is to try using the Letts AS/A level revise in a week books to help you catch up. On top of that, go through lots of Q&As from as many revision guides and text books as possible. This approach should help a lot for the Science subjects, but for Maths you do need that extra ability to succeed. I would not recommend anyone taking A level Maths unless they achieved an A* at GCSE.
Yeah I know the feeling! I've got my exams in 2 weeks, kinda worried haha you'll smash it though! I specialise in pure and mechanics if you need any help
