An analysis of the factors that led to the creation of the NHS.

I have to design a poster on the history of the national health service and I'm stuck on what to write regarding the factors that led to the creation of the NHS. What healthcare was like before 1948. need help, please

it was inaccessible to those in extreme poverty
it came around after the war when labour gained more power and people believed in a more equal society where people should support each other no matter what their social class was.
You could maybe look up how healthcare worked during WWII? Were civilians left to die if their house was bombed? Something else?

On the 5th July 1948 a historic moment occurred and health care became accessible for all, not just those who could afford it, and the NHS was born. Its birth was the product of labour amongst those who felt the healthcare service insufficient especially for the poor. This idea can be traced back to the early 1900’s when socialist Beatrice Webb wrote a report regarding the poor laws. Benjamin Moore, a Liverpool physician had a pioneering vision he wrote “The Dawn of the Health Age” in which he used the term National Health service. Some years later his ideas featured in the Beveridge Plan for the NHS. By the Second World War, the London Council was running the largest public service of its kind for healthcare. The wartime period necessitated the Emergency Hospital Service, making these services dependent on the government. By 1941, the Ministry of Health was in the process of agreeing a post-war health policy with the aim that services would be available to the entire general public. By 1941, the Ministry of Health was in the process of agreeing a post-war health policy with the aim that services would be available to the entire general public, soldiers returning wounded from battle added to a growing social hunger for change. William Beveridge’s Report for “comprehensive health and rehabilitation services” was supported across the House of Commons by all parties. These ideas were taken on by the next Health Minister Aneurin Bevan.
I understand there was a limited form of health support for those on a low income. Not sure of the details though.

Strengthened by the public feeling, he went over the head of the BMA. Immunisation advertisement encouraged parents to sign up for NHS health services in order to immunise their children against such avoidable disease. Within a month 90 % of the population had signed up and chosen a doctor forcing all doctors to jump on board as private practice virtually disappeared.

I have used word for mine as PowerPoint documents don't seem to upload to my assessor. And I have made the page layout custom to the maximum width and length making the page much larger than A4.
However, I'm completely lost with the whole market forces part so if you have any insight into how to go about this, that would be great!

I wonder if you could help with the layout of this poster and do you have any reliable sources that you have used.
Has anyone finished this that could help me? Thank you

I'm currently working on it and well over 1000 words just for analysis of factors leading to creating of NHS, let alone a whole poster under 2000! Still got to fit in explanation of changing demand and the analysis of market forces PLUS a timeline! Seems impossible if you ask me, very stressful!

I am seriously stressed out on this unit and the 2000 word limit is really difficult, have you gone any further with this?
I haven't even started yet, still trying to work my brain on the layout of the poster, any ideas from someone would be really helpful

Hi guys,

I'm new to this site and have come across a lot of useful tips and answers from people on here that has helped me on some of my Units as I am currently undertaking the 'Access to Higher Education Diploma (Health Professionals)' via Stonebridge College. Is there anyone else doing this course an through them? To be honest after reading some of your comments to this particular Unit as I have just started this myself after a painstakingly stressful time completing my previous Unit on Cell Biology which was a killer with the amount of word count to the information I had to provide (3000). I'm taking that, the word count seems to be the problem here with the amount of information that is required. Am I correct and is everyone struggling with this?
