Why do Americans say this?

Instead of full stop, they say period. Why?

As in other aspects of English (e.g. z vs s), the American version is actually taken from older English usage. It's the UK that then changed the term that was used.

No, If Americans try to pronounce the U in 'Mum' 3 of their ribs crack, they just can't do it.
IDK but I've heard a lot of British people say Period at the end of sentences too.

Chads and staceys don't say period. They don't need to prove their point. They are respected.
It means full stop in America, but is commonly used in AAVE (African American Vernacular English. Ebonics).

I should have put par-per its kind of hard to describe how americans say it, but you'd understand if you heard it, if that makes sense.
