Why do people dislike Meghan Markle? Should we still have a royal family?

A) Because people get far too invested in the lives of a bunch of aristocrats that they form deep-seated loves and hatreds for, off the back of sensationalised hearsay painstakingly edited to evoke strong emotional reactions

B) They're a net profit to the country during times when tourism and leisure activities aren't being ruined by a global pandemic and have a relatively small influence on the world in exchange for the financial benefit at a time the country sorely needs it, may as well keep them around.

Its become somewhat political now.

All of the right-leaning media I listen too hate her. All of the progressive media seem to love her.

Which makes sense really, she was a big challenge to traditional ideas of royalty, partially because of her race, but mostly because of her ideas/attitude/approach. To anyone with a conservative world-view they are likely going to view her as a threat to an established traditional institution they value... To anyone with a progressive world-view they are likely going to view her as a breath of fresh air, a potential force for positive change to an outdated institution, and now a victim of racism etc.

As for the royal family. I don't see any practical reason to get rid of them.. Ideologically I'm not a huge fan of hereditary roles and titles, but practically its hard to argue that it would be a benefit of the nation to get rid of them.

Probably because she willingly married into the royal family then proceeded to berate the institution, moved both her and Harry abroad, abandoned her duties and complained about the media before signing deals with Netflix and hyping up interviews they didn't need to do.

If they truly do want a 'quiet life' abroad, then why broadcast divisive interviews and masquerade as Hollywood stars?! I'm sure they could earn money by doing 'normal' low-profile jobs and probably gain a lot more respect doing so.

I think William and Kate show that the Royal Family does have a positive future; they demonstrate how to be respectable public figures who have remained firmly professional throughout their 'career' of duties.

The right wing press has been full of criticisms of Meghan Markle after her revelation of racism in Buckingham Palace.

The Daily Mail protest that their vicious attacks on Meghan Markle have nothing to do with racism. They are forgetting their own history and their most famous headline "Hurrah for the Blackshirts". They do not have impeccable anti-racist credentials. To this day they repeatedly portray asylum seekers as a threat to Britain.

Racism from the Royals is nothing new.

Prince Philip has a long record of racist jokes, talking about "slitty eyed" Chinese and "workshy" Indians; complaining that Caribbean music can make you deaf and all Scots are drunkards. And these are only his comments in public.

The Queen and Prince Philip have been exonerated by the media but the repeated jibes about Meghan Markle's race came from somewhere in the palace and it is not likely that a minion would have been making such remarks without instructions to do so.

The BBC is either being naive or disingenuous in saying the Palace has been "silent". Thousands of pages of venom including a two-year-old allegation of bullying are coming from somewhere and it is unlikely they dropped from the sky.

The attack on Meghan Markle is being used as a means of stirring up race hatred. The fate of the ex-royals is not a matter of concern to Socialists. The racist "dog whistle" outpourings of the media are.

Like TCAB said about Meghan She's not interesting enough to be actively disliked... In some perverse way I actually like them for being so awful 😂

There's nothing wrong with not being a gamer. However if you claim to be one when patently you are not one can be seen as fake and insincere.

There's nothing wrong with setting up a YouTube channel although it comes across as fake and insincere to pretend it 'just so happened' when lots of work has been put into promoting it.

Her channel was also artificially boosted apparently so it appears she is being given preferable treatment which combined with her views on championing 'unheard voices' comes across hypocritical and arrogant at best.

All of the above when also combined with her desire to talk about various Luvvie causes, woke issues and of course herself gives the impression that Larson is a vacuous, narcissist, overly privileged AWFL come down from high to tell the masses about white privilege and toxic masculinity whilst living in a bubble completely divorced from reality.

...........

All par for the course when it comes to Hollywood phonies of course whether it's private jet trotting eco warriors and multi millionaire socialists etc

ah yes. a guy who's brand is that he likes to drink relentlessly attacking celebrity with no evidence just personal opinions of her personality. it's like a creepy parasocial relationship from a fan but with the opposite attitude. All cause he thinks she's... disingenuous. I still don't see that as justification of the utter contempt some people her in.
'She seems fake and I prefer smaller content creators' vs "She's shallow, narcissistic, arrogant, aloof, prickly, self-absorbed, boring, unintelligent, unrelatable, and generally unlikable"
I just don't get the reason for hating someone you don't know and who hasn't negatively affected you all that much. It seems immature if I'm being honest.
It didn't lay it out well at all so it'd be nice if you could explain.
I don't like her much cause she (and the fans she attracts) give me neolib vibes and I didn't relate to the feminist messages in Captain Marvel that much although I know many people who did.

She wants the attention though, she specifically said so her self.. wether she merits the bad attention is beside the point. she cant demand to be the center of attention then whine when it doesnt solely portray her in a flattering light.
I get shes not the smartest cookie in the tin but coming from Hollywood she should really have understood the basic principle that if youre a person with a high profile and you start letting rip with your opinion youre going to make waves. Or to put it more simply, if you quack, people will shoot at you.
Some of the tabloid articles may have been rather cruel this is what she willingly signed up for, she can hardly complain about it after the fact.

Id counter its stretching to equate the prior headlines with 'hate'. The newer ones maybe, this time shes actually done something to offend people though.
