St George's A101 2021 offer holders

Hi I'm pretty much in the same boat as you! This is my 3rd application cycle for GEM. Waiting for responses from Swansea and Notts.

Also not 100% on St George's due to how expensive London is, did my undergrad at Salford Uni and have been living in Manchester since 🙂

I moved to london during my undergrad from the east Midlands. And haven't left since. Love london so much. What is everyone thinking of doing for accommodation?

I'll definitely be looking at getting some kind of shared house. Ideally with other GEM students! How about you?

Offer received on Monday evening, interviewed on the 18th Feb. It's my second time applying to GEM so I'm in shock!


Still waiting to hear from Notts (interviewed in Jan) and have my Swansea interview next week. Main reason for not accepting George's outright atm is just the financial side to living in London. Booking as many overtime shifts as possible to try and save some money up.

I'm from Salford originally, spent my UG in Wales and am now working in Manchester again, so adjusting to London prices is going to be interesting, can't wait to pay £9 for a double vodka and cranberry

I'm in full spreadsheet mode atm trying to work out how much I need to save etc. Luckily, I'm from a low-income family so will receive the maximum amount of funding available from SFE in Y1 & the NHS Bursary in Y2-4 (although still trying to determine whether I can evidence I'm an independent student, and whether that impacts amount of bursary- appears to be more from the author of the Graduate Medicine Success website, however can't find any official confirmation of this online).

Below spreadsheet is based on living in halls in Y1 and then renting privately in a 3 bed house/flat share @ £500pcm + bills. I'm registered with NHSP as a HCA currently alongside my FT hospital admin role, so would be looking at doing bank HCA work wherever I went, so have also included how many shifts/year I'd need to work to cover deficit. Any glaring errors I've made? Admittedly this has been a rush job Also a comparison for Swansea (renting 3 bed flat/house share @ £350pcm + bills).

I live in South London but I'm thinking that for first year it might be a good shout to live close by with other students. Been a little while since uni and want to have my head in the game as much as possible

this is such a good idea i need to get organised! im a final year student so right now the biggest worry is exams so i can hopefully get that 2:1 and make the offer unconditional- anyone else also finishing their bachelors?

I did an integrated masters degree in biology. Worked as a HCA for around 2.5 years (paediatrics and then acute medicine), currently working in complex discharge planning for inpatients.
