Dermatologist during corona
Does anyone know how dermatologist are running during corona? will I be asked to be seen in person or just a video call? thinking maybe a call followed by pictures? (For acne)
It might be worth consulting a pharmacist. They usually have a lot of knowledge about these kind of things. Dermatologists are most likely running but at limited capacity meaning that the most acute and severe cases are seen quicker and if your problem isn'y urgent, there could be a long waiting list. In terms of appointments, it really depends on their policies. Our local hospital does face to face outpatient clinics, local GP does phone calls only and the Emergancy out of hours service does video calls only.

I have been to dermatologists many times during corona. most are trying to limit patents and just do a phone call, but with me they always want me to come in face to face.
This will be first time seeing a dermatologist for me though so will they have a look at my acne on video calls then just prescribe me something?

i visited 3 different dermatologists, at 3 different places and NONE of them were offering video calls. It was either an appointment in person or a telephone call.

It depends, some clinics won't do video calls, some hospitals won't allow in person appointments for non-urgent things. You'll find out when you get your appointment letter.
To be honest I’m hoping it’s a phone call when they see the long list of treatments I have tried but at the same time Roaccutane is a serious drug so I can’t imagine them doing just a call and prescribing it me so they’ll probably see me face to face the first time.

I got onto accutane during lockdown and it was in person as you might have to take blood tests etc.

Really? how long did your referral take? my friend got a text after just 3 days before covid but I would imagine with covid it’s going to be a while? Forgot there is a process before actually starting accutane which sucks lol like you have to wait god knows how long just to see a specialist then wait even longer just to get started on the treatment itself.
I saw a dermatologist in December after being referred in October. I went to the clinic and was examined by the dermatologist, who was wearing a mask and disposable gloves. He said that I'd have follow-up appointments remotely if I responded to treatment. Otherwise, I'd have to attend in person.

Unfortunately I’m temporarily off accutane as my triglycerides (i believe is what it’s called) levels were too high but the month or two I was on it worked wonders so it’s worth the wait.

I’m hoping for a quick referral too ✌️really they stopped your accutane? Doesn’t that defeat the point of accutane though if you stop the treatment even more a month as surely it resets the progress or something?
