Is there something wrong with me

I was on YouTube during me break and randomly got recommended a video of babies playing with cats so I thought why not, it will be cute. In two of the clips, I saw the babies like squeezing small kittens, grabbing them by the neck and kittens screaming and the parents did nothing. It really angered me and made me have an urge to like slap the baby through the screen. Is that normal? Its been annoying me all day

No, it’s very normal to get angry when you see people mistreating animals. I dunno if it would necessarily make most people angry all day, but I can certainly understand it.
No lol I'm with you on this one, angers me when parents do nothing in a situation like that. You're normal

Thank you for replying, glad to hear it. I think it didn't help that the babies were a little ugly too.

Looking at your profile pic, I can see why you are not happy
Not to the extent that you'd have an urge to hit the babies, they barely know how to deal with humans at this point, let alone animals. If anything, you should be resentful towards the parents.

Also, getting annoyed at random YouTube videos, that too all day, won't get you anywhere. Try to fill your breaks with more positive videos and maybe try working towards alleviating that annoyance by helping animals.
Yes, the fact that you'd want to hit the babies is OTT ngl. I get why you're mad, but babies don't know ****, it's the parents who should've stepped in and stopped them from doing that.

Thanks for replying, the parents annoyed me but the babies just squeezing them hard just really pissed me off maybe because they were the ones doing it. Still doesn't change my mind about what I said. Also I did think that was going to be a positive and cute video which is why I watched it. I have tried helping animals like my neighbours cat and also wanted to volunteer at dogs trust, but then couldn't because of the pandemic

Thanks for replying, I agree but I think its because the babies were the ones doing it and wouldn't let go of the kitten.

So let's say you did hit them, how would that be any different to what the babies were doing to the kittens?
It would be even more deplorable and wrong because you hold the ability to make sound judgement and act accordingly, whilst they don't.
And regardless, babies learn behaviour from the people around them and don't have the capacity to understand what others are feeling, so they're not held accountable.

Firstly I said slap not hit. Also I obviously wouldn't slap a baby, I just had an urge to because of how they are handling the kitten. I can control myself. Also you saying babies are not held accountable is your opinion, it still doesn't change my mind. I agree that parents are held more accountable and should have done something about it but I still don't agree babies should be allowed to just get way with hurting very small animals.

I think that those kittens will get their revenge on those babies - and from what I know of cats, this can include pooping, biting, scratching and doing a wee where they know they shouldn't. The problem is that the babies were probably told by the dumb parents that the kittens were just like toys. I think your indignation is a sign of great empathy and is normal. My suggestion is that all animal shelters need people who will "socialise" the cats, back into loving human contact. So they need volunteers to take the terrified cats whose owners have died, and who were roaming wild, and to give them cuddles and attention and human contact. Interested?

Slapping is a form of hitting. And yeah, granted you only had the urge , but your question was on whether it was normal to have the urge to slap the babies. And the answer is no, it isn't accounted for, nor is it reasonable. Sure you'd feel angry but I don't get where the urge to "slap the baby" comes from.

Also, I'm not here to change your mind and neither did I say that children should be allowed to act in that way (which also is in control of the parents), my response was to the appropriation of your reaction, particularly in relation to the babies.

My question was about when the baby when its causing harm to another animal. Also not a very hard. Also I don't even have kids but if i ever do i wouldn't get a pet until they are at least 10. I don't get why you have to come on here to act like a karen.

I think your response to some dumb idiot who is filming a poor kitten getting hurt, was perfectly normal. I think that YOUTUBE were wrong to show animal torture as entertainment. Ignore the Karen.

Thanks for replying. If you're asking me to take a cat, I would love to own one but I live with my parents who aren't the biggest animal fans and also I don't think we are allowed to own pets in the building. Hopefully one day when I buy my own house.
