University of Southampton Freshers 2021

I was wondering if the University of Southampton did their own freshers on campus, so only for University of Southampton students (not Solent as well). I've seen tickets online for Southampton freshers at nightclubs in the town Centre for both Soton Uni's until 3am, but nightclubs are not my thing at all. I appreciate that it will probably be different this year due to COVID, and I know the govt can always go back on the 21st of June promise. Any information on this is appreciated.
The bar on the Highfield campus does events if youre not into nightclubs

Hi MissUnicorn,

I'm also not a fan of nightclubs and thankfully fresher's isn't all about that!! During normal times, fresher's is carried out on campus where you'll be able to join as little or as many societies as possible, take advantage of freebies, attend events etc. The Stags, which is the on campus bar, hosts weekly events. My favourite is Karaoke night. There are also venues on campus where you can eat and socialise with friends. I've included a list below:

Eat & Drink: https://www.susu.org/places/
Societies: https://www.susu.org/opportunities/
Events: https://www.susu.org/calendar

During the pandemic a lot of events were moved online! Fresher's were held online and I was able to join the Canoe (Kayaking clubs) as well as Hillwalking (Hiking) society. We had both in-person and online socials (going to eat out, pubs, picnic and more) as well as training sessions and day walks.

Social life at university is varied and you can tailor your experience!

In terms of COVID guidance it is too early to say anything with certainty. I would encourage you to attend a virtual open day or email the university directly for advice on this.
