do you consider this cheating?

texting other people and being kinda emotionally attached to them? also, occasionally sexting/cam sex but never meeting them in real life?

’’Texting other people and being kinda emotionally attached to them’’ - no, as long as it was only in a friendly way, that sounds totally normal.
’’sexting/cam sex’’ - yes, I would absolutely consider that cheating.

what if it was with random people they had no emotional attachment to?

That's still cheating regardless.

Yeah, I’d still consider that cheating.

You’re not in a relationship with me, though. What matters is what the partner of whoever is doing these things, considers cheating, and what they decide together constitutes cheating.

its only cheating depending on the previous understanding in the relationship. since theres no emotional attachment with the sexting, if youve put down the ground rules before hand and youre both cool with that then thats definitely not cheating. however, by most peoples standards that wouldnt be okay. that means that if the person has sexted others without having previously had that discussion with their partner, then that is cheating bc they have gone against the implicit agreement in their relationship. they have been deliberately deceiving by not having that discussion beforehand, and that is what makes it cheating.

but is it really any different from watching porn when you really think about it? or do you believe that watching porn = cheating too?

Yes, there is a difference.
No, I don't believe that.

Yeah I’m with Silky. I don’t think watching porn is cheating (although it could be problematic if a partner watches a lot of porn to the exclusion of actually doing things with their partner, but that’s another story). My partner sexting or doing cam sex would make me unhappy mostly because it gets another person involved. I would be upset if someone else had a sexual experience with my partner (e.g. cam sex) but not if my partner just had a sexual experience all on their own (e.g. porn).

In what context are they emotionally attached?? I'm emotionally attached to my friends, but if I had a gf, and I go out with my friends, it's not cheating.

Also sexting/doing sexual things whilst in an exclusive relationship with someone else, is cheating. but in my opinion, watching porn isn't cheating. Sometimes sex doesn't always do things for you that masturbation does.

if you're not mature enough to handle conversations about relationships/sex then stay in tsr's chat section?

To be honest, that doesn’t really matter. Cheating is bad because it hurts the partner’s feelings, and that’s enough; feelings don’t have to be logical and often aren’t.

I’d be very happy if my partner had close friends other than me  As long as there was no romance or sex involved.

Yeah, no, that’s unrealistic, possessive, and controlling. I so wish you would get rid of him already. You really can survive without him. You will have to learn to get along without him eventually anyway.

It's not an interesting perspective, 99% of people, me included, would think that way.
