The Manchester United Thread XXIII

Reserved

What better way to open a new Man Utd thread than a Liverpool fan posting about a 4-2 win at Old Trafford.

Although that is what happens when you play a reserve side due to fixture congestion.

Thoughts @bj27 ?

What an absolute prick
We go into the new thread with Manchester United only 10 points ahead of Liverpool now after tonight’s result... Oh no.

We have a game in hand :teeth:

For as good as Man Utd have been this season / sitting in 2nd for a lot of this season - still only going at 2 points per game. Do you believe OGS and this squad can make the jump to 90+ points in a season, that is likely to be required to win a league title?

City can't even get 90 points this season.

For all the talk of how good city have been they wouldn't win the title in any of the previous 4 seadons

If we don't strengthen defense and mid-field we will struggle to get 4th place next season.
No point in having strong forwards if they hardly get the ball.

Chelsea & L'pool under-achieved, 2nd place flatters us but gives the opportunity of getting at least 2-3 quality players.

Yea I did think mid-80 points would be enough to win the title this season with everything going on.

Thought Dean Henderson was poor last night. Put his team under pressure with passes, didn't impose on the game. Poor blocking to stop TAA shot by spilling into Firmino's path and his positioning for Salah's goal was awful (left side of goal entirely exposed), nevermind that he probably should've come off his line.

The previous 4 seasons didn't have a global pandemic, short preseason, condensed fixtures and a lack of fans though (bar last season but over 2/3s of it was already played pre covid). Reckon it'll be back to 90 next season.

Would love them to drop £100m on Lukaku.

I must admit, I’d be very hesitant as a club to look to drop £150m on Kane. Obviously he guarantees goals but there is a big concern that his ankles have him out for 4-6 weeks minimum every season and they are only going to get worse.

buying Lukaku for 100m would be so jokes but he'd do well for them.

them buying Kane is a problem as they have Cavani to make up for when Kane is out who is more than capable.

It's different to Spurs.

Kane is overvalued but United can afford that

No way we buy Kane this summer and if we somehow manage to it means we've blown our transfer budget and neglected more urgent areas (obviously as you said Cavani signed so it's not urgent anymore).

Well Woodward going so maybe he won't do any more crazy overpriced signings.
