a-glucose is oxidised to form molecule A and B. Molecule A forms silver mirror with Tollens reagent and molecule B does not. What are molecules A and B. I have no idea where to start with this. Can someone help?

Hi,

Yes, Tollens tests for aldehydes. From what I understand glucose can react with Tollens reagent to form a silver mirror which has confused me on how to work this out - this is for Chemistry.

1. glucose dissolve in water and what happens to undergo the reaction of Tollen's reagent (Hint: equilibrium to another form)
2. alpha glucose is one type of reducing sugar and how about beta glucose? which carbon atom determines its reducing properties? (it has 6 carbon).
3. How about sucrose?
I think these directions can help you understand.
