So I'm a little disheartened I didn't get into the summer school I was kinda looking forward to it but oh well, if some people fill out more criteria than me (there was no "sell urself section")
Screenshot_20210604-162018.png
10hr's of work experience done tho from the surgery on the plus side! It was a great experience imna go for the rest of the holidays learnt so much I can't wait for The next session.
I'm kinda feeling a little useless like I can't do anything to further my work experience like I asked at a pharmacy and handed a cv in but they basically said no because of covid
Now the summer school application got rejected so :frown:double saddish and annoyed
gp surgery
Hospital-I need to try this out
Care home -covid so I don't think they'll let me
And I don't want to spend the rest of my time on tiktok and Amazon Prime although I kinda ran outta movies anyway
Oh well.
At least next week 9th and 10th I'm preoccupied
Tbh I'm only tryna find stuff to do to take my mind away from my GCSE results
Overall feeling a bit queasy about everything
Plus side I learnt how to make bubble tea it's so good I made it with white tapioca pearls which are smaller but work well enough 😎
I might also need to get a skincare routine cuz I just broke out with 6 spots in one night (normally my skin is clear) but lately it's gone a bit off path -blaming it on the junk food
I Also need to buy more stuff like a black leather tote bag(I don't think a backpack is gonna cut it this year),calculator for a levels, water bottle, case for my tablet, lunch box, sweatshirts (I mean it's not necessary but like...)

Aw don’t feel disheartened I’m sure you’ll find something better :console:

Omg I’ve been trying to find work experiences but again cos of covid everyone is on hold- how have you managed to work in a gp surgery? Was it virtual?

most unis have them apart from Oxbridge I think? I have looked for it but they are nowhere near as good this is going to hurt, you could read trust me I'm a junior doctor

Oh ok that’s :frown:

Ooo thanks for the recommendation I will read it

IVE JUST FINISHED READING THIS IS GOING TO HURT AND OMGGGG THE ENDING WAS A SHOCK I WAS LITERALLY ABIUT TO CRY BECUASE HE THOUGHT IT WAS HIS FAULT

the whole book really showed the harsh reality of doctors and the pressure on them
I know I’m definitely not going to be a gynaecologist after reading this

Its such a great and powerful moment right.

But just to point out: that book is very exaggerated. I guarantee that a big proportion of the stuff he states didn't actually happen to him - it reads more like a doctor telling all of the anecdotes he's ever heard from other doctors, on top of personal experience.

Its also out of date - doctor's working patterns are quite different now to the early 90s. I hesitate to say they're better, but the work is quite different.

Edit: also to point out that from what I remember, most of what he talks about is obstetrics, not gynaecology. Once you're a consultant you don't usually do both. But maybe you specifically meant the gynae part I dunno.

So I'm getting increasingly nervous because they r going to tell us what evidence they r going to use for our gcse grades this Thursday

Update - work experience experiences (sorry for not thinking of a better title)
I have only been for one day so far but here goes
Given the current circumstances most patients seen face to face are children as pictures or video calls tend to be more exaggerated, understated or more complicated .However technology has rapidly improved the working of the practice and there are both positives and negatives to this. One might suggest a positive may be that patients can book earlier and receive treatment more often on time than usual as these phone triages tend to be shorter as less examination takes place. This seems to be working among the younger generation but the elderly are struggling as they "don't know how to book online" and would like to see a "doctor in real life".I guess in one aspect this is true because the work of a gp relies on the trust between the patient and doctor and if we don't see them it makes patients less likely to open up to their doctor especially in mental illnesses such as depression which seems to have increased over lockdown.

I was trying to get work experience at a care home
This is how the conversation went
Hi Is it possible for my daughter to get work experience
Not really she will have to get through loads of checks and more stuff why don't u try again next week?
Oh that's sad to hear see I'm the gp that works in the practice next to this Care home
She can start next week if she wants to
Feeling a little unproductive the past week cuz I was with my friends and binge watching the good place with the school stuff as well so I feel a little guilty but I don't care that much so that's like 8days just gone
At this moment in time we have 82 days till school starts
Chem 25 videos to go yh ik
So to be more productive I'll make a checklist for everyday
🍉Checklist for everyday🍉
Chem 3 videos
Then after I've gone through all of that 25 videos
Biology quizlets for each unit 25units
1 a day
And then
Chemistry quizlets 18units
1 a day
And then
Further maths papers GCSE stuff for rest of it

So like that should take ...
51 days oh shirt not even including the further maths papers not to mention work experience days I left maths because I'm quite ok at the concept of maths But like I've heard so many horror stories
But the idea is that after the 3videos then I can watch as much Netflix as I want which will work (hopefully)
