Can someone please help me work out my overall grade?

So I've just received my marks for my final unit for my 2nd year of uni. However, I'm struggling to calculate my overall grade for this unit as it is really confusing.
The unit is broken down like this:
50% Coursework
50% Exam
Coursework contents (50%):
10% Primer Design- 100
5% MCQ- 7/10 (70)
5% Risk Assessment- 80
80% Grant Proposal- 59

Exam Grade (50%)- 67

Does anyone know what my overall mark would be for this unit? And how would it be calculated? Any help would be much appreciated thanks!

It's 65.85% overall.
64.7% in the coursework, 67% exam, 65.85% overall
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think you would work it out like this:

Primer Design - 100/100 = 200/200 (x2 because it’s worth double the parts which count for 5%)
MCQ - 70/100
Risk Assessment - 80/100
Grant Proposal - 59/100 = 944/1600 (again, x16 because it’s worth 16 times the score for the MCQ and Risk Assessment)

Then add them all together - 1294/2000
which simplifies to 64.7/100 or 64.7%

And then you just need to work out the average of 64.7 and 67 which is about 66%
Thanks guys, so it's a 2:1 grade which is quite disappointing since I was aiming for a 1st. Considering there are 4 units I had for 2nd year and I got 1sts for the other 3 units, what are the chances that I could still get a 1st overall? Considering my uni uses 25% 2nd year and 75% 3rd year weighting?

If you got 1st in the other 4 units and just one 2:1 in this unit for this year, I am pretty sure you're either getting a 1st for this year or very close to it.

If you smash 3rd year you can definitely get a 1st overall as well.

It's possible, it would depend how high the firsts are. You should get at least a high 2:1 for the year which can be pushed to a first overall in your last year.

Thank you, that's very reassuring. I'll have to try and smash 3rd year then!

Yeah I worked it out and I think I got 77.42% for the whole year, can you please correct me if I've calculated the 3rd unit wrongly?
These are the 4 units i studied:
Blood Science- 82
Infection Science- 72
Cellular Science- 90 (50% Coursework Grade- 80, 50% Exam Grade- 100 so (80 x 0.5) + (100 x 0.5) = 90?)
TAIBMS- 65.85
Overall grade for 2nd year: (82 + 72+ 90 + 65.68)/4 = 77.42
Would this be a 1st for the year?

Congratulations! Yes that is a first!

Just one thing to note you actually got higher, as you made an error in your calculations:

(82 + 72+ 90 + 65.68)/4

The 65.68 should be 65.85, which changes it to:

(82 + 72+ 90 + 65.85)/4 = 77.4625 = 77.46%

But well done on your first!

Ah I thought I made a mistake in there somewhere... You can tell how terrible my maths is lol. Thanks a lot for your help! I just need to focus on the all important 3rd year now 😬
