The site used to be populated by almost exclusively british people but over the past year or so there seems to have been a large influx of americans for some reason

It really depends where in each country you're looking. I think the Southern states can be antiimmigrant but then again will be friendly and welcoming to immigrants on a personal level. It's more the overarching idea of immigrants that they object to. Kinda like how they want more public spending on a personal level but on a wider scheme of things it benefits the poor and black so are against it.

In the UK, I get the impression that people are against immigrants but the whole British politeness thing means that they will never tell that to a person for fear of being labeled rude.

Not really. There are only four properly active American users ( and even then three of them are from the UK/planning to move to the UK ).

i think though there are some more i can't name as they wasn't so active so maybe you have a point. i think there's more semi active ones though that come and go..

but i bet none of yous end up here longer than a couple of week holiday :P
