Help! (History vs. Veterinary nursing)

1) I love history ....... are concerned there are no jobs afterwards
2) I love animals.
3) go through clearing to do a veterinary nursing degree

1) You will find History graduates in almost every career are you can think of. Degree study is not just about 'subject' - its mostly about learning how to think, argue/reason/discuss, and 'having your brain stretched'. This is what employers want - not the History knowledge but what are known as 'higher thinking skills' and why you see job ads that say 'Graduate - any discipline', because the thinking skills are universal.
2) Then dont do Vet. Animals die, its hard, dirty work and they dont say thank you.
3) What relevant work experience do you have? You'll need at least 2 weeks of working in a Vet/animal clinic and preferably also 'another setting' such as stables. kennels, RSPCA etc. You need this to show that you are realistic about what the job involves - and that you can cope with it. Its rare for Vet Nursing to be in Clearing because most courses will not have vacancies or be willing to interview anyone in the middle of Clearing.

Hi so I’m not sure wether to take a history degree or undertake a degree in veterinary nursing- I love history and would love to do a degree in it as I find it much more interesting than science etc however my entire family and all family friends are concerned there are no jobs afterwards- I just wondered if someone could help by giving me advice- I love animals however I’m so undecided as to which degree to undertake
I also have an offer for history at Leeds however I’d need to go through clearing to do a veterinary nursing degree
