@isara8482 summed it up pretty well. For English Lit, as mentioned, try and get a hold of your texts and maybe even have a read this summer so you have some sort of understanding going into the first term

I'm not quite sure about which texts I'll be studying specifically but I know there's going to be Shakespeare, drama, poetry, and two texts from a selected theme. Thanks for the helpful reply 😊

Awesome! In your sixth form's prospectus, they should have mentioned the texts (maybe have a look and see or give them an email?).

If you need any English Lit advice, I've just finished Year 13. If you end up doing some of the same texts as I did, I'll be glad to help!

P.S My friend did the exact same combination as you did (I'm not very science-y, but she is ) and she loved it!

I have just finished year 13 as well, i did A Level Maths, Chemistry and Physics. I used to do Further Maths and EPQ, but i ended up dropping them both

I got this from the prospectus.

You will study three texts – one Shakespeare play, one
drama text and one poetry text – from the lists below.

Shakespeare:
• Coriolanus
• Hamlet
• Measure for Measure
• The Tempest
• Twelfth Night

Drama text:
• Marlow: Edward II
• Webster: The Duchess of Malfi
• Goldsmith: She Stoops to Conquer
• Ibsen: A Doll’s House
• Wilde: An Ideal Husband

Poetry text:
• Chaucer: The Merchant’s Prologue and Tale
• Milton: Paradise Lost Books 9 & 10
• Coleridge: Selected Poems
• Tennyson: Maud
• Rossetti: Selected Poems


You will study at least two complete texts from
one of the following topics:

• American Literature 1880-1940
• The Gothic
• Dystopia
• Women in Literature
• The Immigrant Experience


You will study three pieces of literature (one
prose text, one poetry text and one drama text)
one of which must have been published or first
performed in 2000 or later. You will submit a close
reading, critical analysis on one of the texts and a
comparative essay on the other two.

I ended up doing:
Hamlet for Shakespeare
Ibsen's A Doll's House for Drama Text
Rossetti for Selected Poems
and then Dystopia

How did you find Chemistry? Do you have any advice?

It was alright but i would have learned better if the teacher that was teaching us didnt talk about his private life but instead taught us chemistry. Maybe use the websites that i already commented

Ahh, I know what you mean about the private life talk. My science teacher constantly moved off topic and then blamed us for being behind. I'll check out the websites you commented and the sixth form I'll be going to does OCR for chemistry.

I dont think chemguide would be much of a help as he mainly does it for AQA

I'll be starting sixth form soon and I am going to be taking A-level Biology, Chemistry, and English Literature. I'm not so sure about what equipment I would need for the next two years. Any advice?

Check Physics and Maths tutor, if you have not used it before

I really recommend carrying a "day folder" in which you put the relevant parts of each subject you're studying that day into one folder, rather than carry individual folders for each subject and break your back. Keeping your main subject folders at home is a lifesaver for organisation.
