Personally, you wouldn’t be asked to compare nanoparticles with atoms, however nanoparticles have a large surface area to them being around 1-10 nano-metres with respect to volume. Atoms also have a large surface area but don’t get confused by interlinking these two. For GCSE knowledge you just need to know about the surface area and there is no need to compare to an atom.
